The new year is a chance for new beginnings. For all the troubles that befell last year, the arrival of 2025 gives a chance to start from scratch. That might be exactly what Stephen Curry needs. The last months of 2024 haven’t favored the Warriors ace well given the team’s downfall since November. Thankfully, he has his rock right by his side. That’s none other than Ayesha Curry.

Curry often draws strength from his lovely family – Ayesha and their four children. “The most important thing is your family and taking care of each other,” he has said. Hence, the only way to start off the new year with renewed optimism was to spend the special day with his “Ish”.

Making an Instagram post to celebrate the new year, Stephen Curry and his entrepreneur wife both sported a “Happy New Year” attire. “2025 with my Ish!” the four-time champion captioned the post. And honestly, what could be a better way to start 2025 than spending it with loved ones? Especially since it might be a time when both need each other.

Recently, the MGM Grand announced the shutting down of International Smoke, a restaurant owned by Ayesha Curry and celebrity chef Michael Mine according to 3 News. It has been a part of Sin City’s attraction since 2019. And while the reasons for its closure aren’t mentioned, the BBQ restaurant will shut its doors on January 19.

International Smoke is now only open in San Francisco. However, the former New York best-selling author still has other ventures such as Domaine Curry, a wine brand she and sister-in-law Sydel Curry-Lee started are involved in even though they sold it to Constellation Brands in 2023.

Stephen Curry too has other business ventures. But, as far as his main profession of basketball goes, he hopes that the beginning of 2025 can have an invigorating impact on the Golden State Warriors.

Stephen Curry acknowledges the Warriors’ “mid” status

From the time the Golden State Warriors began the season 12-3, there was growing confidence about their chances in a contested Western Conference. Sadly, things have gone downhill since then. The team has failed to grow from its lightning start, falling down the ladder to the 10th seed in the West.

The most recent of these losses came against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The demolition ended in a lob-sided 18-point loss. It was also the Bay’s fourth loss in their last five games. Likewise, the result came against the team with the best record in the NBA. Yet, Stephen Curry didn’t shy away from being honest about his team.

“How do kids say it? We’re very mid right now. We’re just very average. We understand that better days can be ahead,” he said after the game.

Still, with 50 games remaining, Stephen Curry and the Warriors are far from being out of the race. They are only four wins off being the fourth seed. It’s something that the team is well aware of. The aim will be to find their footing once again and try to remain consistent.

The two-time MVP acknowledges they are just a 5-6 game run away from attaining a healthy seed again. Although Kerr believes the team has “lost some confidence,” there is a belief within the team to figure things out. Their next few games could provide those opportunities given they don’t face any top 4 seed team in their next six games. But it will only matter if the Warriors can capitalize.
