After his severely under-par shooting performance in Game 3, Karl-Anthony Towns left everyone stunned with a bold claim, “I’m putting up 1500 shots a day.” But the Inside the NBA panel immediately called “cap” on KAT’s claim because of how unrealistic it sounded. Even Shaq was in denial and was more concerned about why Towns was not upset about his 0 of 8 shooting from the three-point line. However, with his incredible comeback performance tonight, KAT was able to convince one NBA legend to back his claim as Reggie Miller was awestruck by his showcase in Game 4.

Unlike Sunday’s game, Towns lit the American Airlines Center on fire tonight with his incredible shooting prowess. Finding his rhythm in the second half, KAT made four of his five attempts from beyond the arc, which also included a clutch three in the closing minutes to increase his team’s lead. As Towns hit his 4th three of the night, Reggie Miller, who was announcing the game live wondered if his claim was actually true, “Maybe KAT was shooting 1500 shots a day here, Coach!”.

This Sunday was the first time in Towns’ career that he didn’t make a single three-pointer while taking a minimum of eight attempts. So, while it was an unfortunate night for him, it was definitely an anomaly. But tonight, he showed the world why he calls himself “the greatest big man shooter of all time.” Only one loss away from a humiliating sweep, KAT brought out his clutch gene and had his highest-scoring game of this series with 25 points. Although he got fouled out in the final minutes after a foul on Doncic, Towns had done enough by then for the Wolves to come out victorious.

Shaq gives Karl-Anthony Towns his flowers

While Shaq was critical of Towns’ lack of aggressiveness after Sunday’s game, he liked what he saw from the Wolves big man tonight. Applauding his timely shots and great shooting, Shaq commended KAT for coming in clutch when his team needed him. Then, he even sneakily blamed Towns and Edwards for an added trip the panel will have to take after the Wolves won tonight’s game, “Tonight Ant and KAT played well, and now we gotta go back to cold a** Minnesota.”

Even Charles Barkley acknowledged Towns’ effort tonight and credited his performance to the first few early shots he made inside the paint. Claiming that those initial shots helped the player gain his rhythm and confidence to pull up from deep, Chuck truly appreciated KAT. “They brought it tonight. They did not get swept… Give KAT a lot of credit.” Barkley added.

Despite Shaq and Barkley giving Karl-Anthony Towns his flowers for tonight’s performance, it is still not clear if they now believe his claim of taking 1500 shots per day. What do you think?
