Kyrie Irving is now re-signed on the Dallas Mavericks roster. He had earlier been on the Boston Celtics?and the Brooklyn Nets rosters and didn’t have the best of times there. So with Irving joining Luka Doncic at the Mavericks, questions arise about whether it makes sense to get him in the fold.
This thought was put forward by Dallas Mavericks owner, Mark Cuban. But what did the billionaire entrepreneur make of the situation? Did he envision a team strengthened by the duo of Irving-Doncic?

The Dallas Mavericks did not have a very good 2022-2023 season. but the Doncic-Irving duo looked pretty dangerous on the court. Even analysts have opined that the most sensible decision right now would be to keep Irving in the fold.
Kyrie, though, has been in numerous controversies both on and off the court. When he was playing for the?Nets in 2019, he was suspended for five games without pay for one of his polarizing tweets. He also lost a sponsorship deal in the process. But Irving has the numbers and the accolades to back him.
The NBA champion is one of only nine players in NBA history to achieve a rare 50/4o/90 season stat. He also has impressive shooting percentages of 92.2% percent from the free-throw line, 40.2% from 3-pointers, and 50.6% on field goals overall.
Mark Cuban defends Irving’s retention
In a recent interaction, Cuban was asked about the logic behind signing up Irving back into the Mavericks fold. He replied, “Kyrie just loves basketball. So no, I wasn’t concerned about that. We traded for him because we wanted him to be a long-term piece,”?the Mavericks owner said.
“But I think Kyrie is just misunderstood. Everybody sees the noise around, but when you actually talk to him, I like him. You know, he’s open, he’s smart, he’s always looking to learn things. To me, he’s just an interesting guy who is misunderstood,” he added.
