Can LeBron bounce back after Curry's explosive performance, or is the King losing his crown?

It’s only pre-season, but whenever there’s a Stephen Curry vs LeBron James match-up, you know it’s going to be a blockbuster. Now, that’s the kind of reward they were hoping to receive following the long summer wait. This is the kind of excitement fans have eagerly anticipated after a long summer. Seeing them on the same court is a dream come true for many, yet the NBA season is set to be a challenging one. Unfortunately for LeBron’s supporters, last night was not one to remember. Not only did the Lakers suffer a loss, but Curry’s explosive performance left their idol overshadowed and embarrassed.

The night ended in favor of the Warriors, 111-97, with Curry dropping a 16-point performance against LeBron, who could only fetch 6 points. And while most of the certified LBJ fans kept mum, Curry’s former teammate dared to question a viral moment from the game. During the second quarter of the game, Curry faked LeBron, leaving him in his wake before uncharacteristically dunking to add to his tally. The unfamiliar sight was questioned by Ty Jerome and guess what? The Dubs’ leader shut him down too.

Perplexed by Curry’s dunk, the Cavaliers star asked in the comment section, “That’s a dunk?” The question soon caught the attention of the 4-time champion. Curry hurried to defend himself against his former teammate. “Ain’t nobody got time for that! 2 pts=2 pts,” Curry replied on his post. Guess it’s time for Dennis Dugan to remake his infamous movie with a slight change in the title, You Don’t Mess with the Curry.

Both the point guards shared a healthy relationship during their time at the Warriors in the 2022-23 season. When the 10-time All-Star missed a chunk of games, it was Jerome taking care of the backcourt. So it is obvious that they made the comments in a lighthearted manner like how two friends talk. That’s something even LeBron and Curry could relate to as their HC for Team USA revealed the dynamic between the duo.

Steve Kerr reveals Stephen Curry’s bromance with LeBron James

Team USA gave everyone what they wanted. A super link-up between three likely future Hall of Famers—LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant. But now that’s in the past. What about the future then? LeBron had a straightforward answer to that.“I have no idea,” the Lakers star recently said when asked whether he’ll team up again with Curry. Steve Kerr however saw enough during the one-off collab and tagged their chemistry as “bromance”.

“It was a bromance,” the 59-year-old said before the game. “There is so much respect. There has been for so long. But until you are playing on the same team, you do not really know what it is going to be like. It clicked from day one.” He further added that LeBron was more vocal of the two but both of them had an inherent ability to lead the team.

Now there’s one more round of slogging left between the two teams. The Chase Center will light up on October 18 to host the game. Will Curry again dominate LeBron on the court? Or will it be the King’s turn to dish out the punishment? We’ll know soon enough.
