The San Antonio Spurs have a noteworthy history of selecting exceptional players, particularly during the lottery era. The names Tim Duncan and David Robinson spring to one’s mind since they revolutionized their positions and made a lasting impression on the league. And as for their latest pick, they have drafted a Frenchman standing at an imposing 7-foot-4. The Spurs managed to bag the second-tallest player in the league. Consequently, there has been much hype around his draft. Many even compared the 19-year-old draft to LeBron James‘.
However, most recently, an NBA veteran with a?5x NBA All-Star dismissed the hype around him, stating that Bol Bol has better potential.

Wembanyama, a French baller who played for Metropolitans 92 in the brutally competitive LNB Pro A division, has been making headlines since before the NBA draft. Wemby has broken records and left a lasting impression on the league with a remarkable average of 21.6 points, 10.4 rebounds, three blocks, and 2.4 assists per game in just 32.1 minutes. His rapid rise has resulted in his winning numerous accolades, including the coveted League MVP title.
But he has failed to win over Tim Hardaway Sr. who still remains skeptical about the player. During a recent appearance on The Carton Show,?Hardaway Sr. revealed why the Frenchman will be merely an “alright” player: “Y’all think this is going to happen? That man is going to be an alright basketball player. I’m sorry. “
Victor Wembanyama’s debut surely fueled critics like Hardaway Sr. The young player may not have lived up to everyone’s expectations on his debut, as he only finished with nine points and eight rebounds despite having five blocks to his credit. Many fans had the impression that the much-discussed potential was nothing more than hollow promises.
Wembanyama, however, was adamant about proving his worth and silencing his critics. He made a big impression in his second Summer League match, demonstrating that he is a player to be taken seriously. With amazing stats of 27 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks, the talented player gave a standout effort.
Meanwhile, Hardway Sr dismissing Wemby comes after he compared him to Bol Bol.
Hardway Sr believes Bol Bol has better potential than Wemby
Tim Hardaway Sr. recently asserted during an appearance on The Carton Show that basketball prodigy Bol Bol, who stands 7 feet 2 inches tall, has more physical potential than Victor Wembanyama. But the comments caused a stir, especially since Hardaway had mispronounced Wembanyama’s name in the conversation. He said, “I think he’s better than Victor Waba Ma, or whatever his name is.”
