Recently, Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis suffered a poke in his left eye. The Raptors center Jakob Poeltl expressed his desperation in a game that was slipping out of their hands. Hence the poke, that left The Brow in discomfort. Davis was lucky enough not to acquire a serious injury as many were speculating. He had some scratches in his eye according to the medics, but he feared a cornea abrasion.
But, putting an end to all the concerns and speculations, The Brow turned up on the court for the game against the San Antonio Spurs on Friday. And well, what a game the Lakers center put up at the AT&T Center! A solid 40 points to erase away the struggles and fears he felt with his eyes. However, Anthony Davis’ fresh revelation is rather worrisome, than comforting.
After the game, Davis while leaving the arena was asked what he saw in the game. He replied, quite casually: “I didn’t see anything. I didn’t see much. Left my eyes a little foggy.” So, it looks like the 31-year-old is still struggling to have clear vision in his left eye. The 9x NBA All-Star had shared his concerns on not being “100% sure” about his injury and vision, but this new information could add to the concerns of the team and the fans alike.

However, Davis appreciated his team’s efforts against the Spurs. It’s hard to say how good or bad the eye situation is here. But it’s safe to say Anthony Davis hasn’t recovered from the injury. Nonetheless, his gameplay has not been marred by the setback which is great news for JJ Redick.

It’s easy to understand why the LA Lakers HC, JJ Redick wants his team to orbit around Anthony Davis. The first (and only reason) is his consistency from the first game, from the first moment in every game. Davis never skimps on attacking his opponents with full force, treating top teams and midfield ones with equal intensity.
On Friday, The Brow pulled up his season-best 40-point game against the San Antonio Spurs. Anthony Davis shot 14 for 26 from the field (2 for 4 from 3-point range) and went 10 for 12 from the free-throw line to go with 12 rebounds, two blocked shots, and two assists – the second one leading to a LeBron James layup that gave the Lakers a 118-115 lead with 25 seconds left.
Coach Redick is satisfied with his team’s performance recently. And after the game night against the Spurs, the 40YO couldn’t stop himself from praising his boys. “When we execute and we’re really sort of intentional about how we were using him in set plays, he got to some good spots,” Lakers coach JJ Redick said of Davis. “I told him after the game, ‘I know you’re doing this now on a nightly basis. I’m not taking it for granted.’ It’s fun to coach. It’s fun to watch.”

So, even with lingering concerns about his vision, Davis’ game remains undeterred. Moreover, putting the back-to-back defeats in the past, JJ Redick is looking forward to winning more games this season. A second NBA Cup would be nice, but an eighteenth Larry O’Brien would be the feather to add to the hats.
