The founder of Klutch Sports Group Rich Paul is the most prolific agent in the league, representing NBA stars like LeBron James, amongst many others. Starting from a very humble background in Ohio, his journey into the NBA is nothing short of achieving greatness. His real education happened on the streets, and 14-15 YO Rich was earning around $5000 a day just by rolling dice for gambling. LeBron took a bet on him by hiring him as his agent in 2003 at an annual $50,000 salary. His career skyrocketed and in 2012, he founded KGC.?

Since then he has been a game-changer. The company has been successful in helping its clients capitalize on opportunities across the rapidly changing entertainment, media, and business landscape. Despite achieving so much, Paul believes that he is not taken seriously by some. Many have criticized him for his way of doing business.

In an interview with CBS? Bill Whitaker, he discusses his journey as one of the prolific sports agents. Revealing some lesser-known sides about him. He started out as a full-time hustler before finding his way into the millions. From selling vintage t-shirts in his van to take apprenticeships, he sailed smoothly on his way through.?

In a segment of the interview, he says, ?I had to build? a multi $100 million company to get people to believe in me, and there’s still doubt?.?His style of business has accumulated many haters who believe that Rich has destroyed the idea of player loyalty with the team. Rich responds by saying that there is no such thing as player loyalty and it?s an outdated concept. If a player can get traded overnight for a deal, then it must be a two-way round and associations can change. He orchestrated LeBron?s dealings with Maimi, back to the Cavaliers and then to the Lakers, making it his highest payout for $400 M.?

In 2019, his agency partnered with the United Talent Agency to expand its business. Their strategic partnership allowed Klutch to operate under its own brand while also expanding UTA?s reach in the sports business.

LeBron James Debunks Critics

Rich?s long-time friend debunked critics who attributed Paul?s success solely to their relationship. When asked about this criticism, he expressed disappointment. He praised Paul for seizing the opportunity he was given and exceeding expectations.?

?But you gave him an opportunity,? the interviewer asked. ?Yeah. And I don’t give people opportunities much. And he took well way beyond? than what he even imagined.? says LeBron.
