There are only 2 NBA billionaires. The first was Michael Jordan. Then came LeBron James. Considering that to be his ‘biggest milestone’, the King has accumulated enough fortune to feed generations. From owning pizza franchises to investing in a multi-sport dynamic via the Fenway Sports Group, Bron’s a person millions look up to. And a recent snapshot that’s gone viral within days, won’t do his reputation the world of good. In the past, the Laker has shown a certain resistance towards overpaying for things.

Unfortunately, the latest revelation is in the same sphere. Pushed into an early offseason, James went to relish a local basketball game. With the best time of the season in motion, the Akron Hammer decided to dual-task. With a laptop screen in front, he simultaneously watched the series between the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves. Unfortunately, a lurking fan spontaneously recorded him seemingly using Stream East, a super popular but illegal streaming website.

Yes, you read that correctly. So, now let’s get things straight. Lebron James, in fact, ‘The LeBron James’ has his sneaker line, a production company, and other ventures feeding tons of money into his near-endless supply. Yet, he refuses to pay $14.99 a month!

The NBA league pass costs only $14.99 a month or $90 for the entire season. This season, Bron made $47 million, the 3rd highest in the NBA. That’s six figures for every game. Moreover, his off-court earnings surpassed the ludicrous salary, making over $70 million! He still shows reluctance to purchase the official NBA league pass or any other approved streaming subscription.

Of course, fans almost instantly jumped to mock the NBA legend. He has yet to respond to the video. However, this is not the first time he has landed in an awkward speculation about wanting to spend luxury money. Oh, he seems to have a track record!

The frugal side of LeBron James

Back in 2016, an interviewer raised the question for LeBron and D-Wade- Who is the cheapest guy in the NBA?

The Flash was as fast to respond as his spin move. “Oh, LeBron. He’s a good tipper, but he won’t use his cellphone without WiFi signals. This is no joke. He sends me a text before he leaves for the boat because there won’t be no Wi-Fi signal out there”.

Months later, the two best friends had an interview with Rachel Nichols. James was confronted with Wade’s past comments about him. He tried to play it off. Ultimately, though, he admitted to his various behaviors to avoid spending money. That is so falsely true. I’m not turning on data roaming. I’m not buying no apps. I still got Pandora with commercials”, he said while chuckling with D-Wade. Pandora actually heard Bron’s comments, and they decided to give him a free premium account to use later.

LeBron James went a step ahead to display his frugal way of living when he straight up said no to paying for the blue checkmark on X (after Elon Musk took over Twitter). He wrote, “Welp guess my blue ✔️ will be gone soon cause if you know me I ain’t paying the 5”.

Maybe he is still accustomed to spending wisely from the time he wasn’t as wealthy. But he does have an expensive taste in a variety of areas. He cherishes good wine, as evident on Mind the Game podcast, and is crazy over the many mansions he has built all across the country. Plus, he believes in donating a lot of money to charitable causes. But maybe, just maybe, it’s time to loosen his pockets a little.
