Following an unfortunate postseason, the Greek Freak could not continue to lead his team in the first round. It was the second consecutive playoffs where the Bucks lost Antetokounmpo due to injury. While the season ended quite early for Giannis, he had a much bigger obligation to make. Turning his attention to international play, with the 2024 Paris Olympics right around the corner, the pre-Olympic tournaments are set to tip off from July 2nd onwards.

This tournament features teams who could not qualify for the Olympics. Greece is one of the many countries fighting for a spot in the Olympics this year. With Giannis back on the court, Greece will likely qualify and play on the big stage this July. Giannis last played for his country in the 2023 European Qualifiers. His stats while playing for his are as dominant as his numbers in the Association. The Greek Freak recently shared pictures of him and his brother in their national team uniform.

Antetokounmpo has made a speedy recovery and looks ready to step into action. Greece is set to face the Dominican Republic on the 3rd of July.  The following day they will play their second league match against Egypt. On the other hand, the semi-finals and Finals will be played on July 6th and 7th respectively.

As the Greece national team looks to get past the pre-Olympic tournament, there’s one country that everyone is looking forward to witnessing this summer. Team USA went all in this time while picking their players. Giannis and company will be challenged against, what many would call, the Dream Team.

Can Antetokounmpo and company stand tall against Team USA?

With LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and other All-Stars teaming up for redemption, no one is expecting anything but Gold from this squad. Some of the greatest players to have ever touched the ball will go up against players who are equally hungry for wins. Giannis Antetokounmpo has shown his passion for the game in full display from time to time. However, only Giannis knows the magnitude of the force he’d face if Greece played the USA.

As the excitement builds around the formidable Team USA lineup, this will be the last time fans will see their favorite players suit up in the Olympics. Antetokounmpo on the other hand has a lot left in him. But surely, he won’t ever witness anything such as the modern-era Dream Team. It will be interesting to see whether Greece faces the States in the Olympics.
