Dennis Schroder thinks Germany can beat Team USA—Is he delusional or onto something?

Team USA has been moving through the Olympic tournament like a juggernaut, crushing every team they have faced so far. With just two games away from the final, Team USA has made it clear with their performance that a Gold medal is clearly in their sights. The fan favorites are all set to face Serbia in the Semi-Finals tonight. But for Dennis Schroder, whose country is everything to them, this doesn’t frighten him.

Basketball is redemption for Schroder, and he will do anything to give something back to the land he was born in. So when the news platforms report Team USA is unstoppable, Schroder thinks otherwise. But not without its challenges.

“They’re the avengers. Have you seen the movie Avengers? Their quality … we ain’t got to talk about that. Their quality is just insane. I mean to have on that team, probably eight to 10 people who are going to be Hall of Famers. I don’t want to step on nobody’s toes, maybe even 12. But it’s a team that has a lot of quality, a lot of firepower, a lot of shooting, can play fast. A lot of GOATs out there”, said Dennis Schroder.

Of course, every one of the 12 players on the Team USA roster comes with a combined total of 14 NBA titles, 8 NBA MVP awards, and 7 Finals MVP award winners. Truly something that would make anyone dread them. But even as the USA seems dominating, Germany too is unbeaten.

With the 2023 FIBA World Cup gold medal already in their pockets, they’ve emerged thunderously by defeating Greece in the Olympics quarter-finals run.

“If we do our things right as our team, if we play on a high level and we do the things we can do, I take us over anybody. That’s not being not arrogant, but just the high level of character we have in this locker room and the IQ. Our chemistry is the biggest thing,” Schroder added.

In addition to their team chemistry, with players like Franz Wagner and Schroder himself, at the top of their game, Germans sure can give the mighty team USA a run for their money.

Additionally, the Germans scored 20 points by forcing more than 10 turnovers and nine steals in the game against Greece. Even though they are confident in their abilities, the German captain seems to be aware of what an impending force Team USA is. “So, they have a lot of firepower. But we got our team chemistry and everybody knows how to play. It’s going to be a hard fight”.

Will German chemistry work against LeBron James and Co?

As confident as Schroder sounds about his team’s chemistry and gameplay, he is aware of the grim realities too. “If we have a perfect game against them, it’s still a possibility to lose. That’s what you have to understand. If we play a perfect game to whatever team, we probably win by 15, 20, 30 points. But if you have a perfect game against the States, you still might lose. And that’s the scary part about it,” Schroder concluded.

But before they start thinking too much about Team USA, the Germans have a task to complete first. They compete against France today. If they win then, they will get to face tonight’s winner from either USA or Serbia. Definitely a crucial day in the basketball world today.

Germany has already beaten France in the group stage, 85-71. Yet, France will put up a tough fight considering the importance of this stage. Things might not look easy for Schroder then. The home team has bagged two victories in the Olympics so far, sending Canadians home in the quarter-finals. So of course France does seem confident too.

And they emerged victorious in their previous matches even when Wembanyama wasn’t at his best, offensively. France has Isaia Cordinier and Guerschon Yabusele to rely on. In the last match, they managed to put up a combined total of over 40 points. Even the French veteran was in awe of their mesmerizing performance.

Even though the French team might not seem as dominating as the US side, they’re still not an easy opponent to tackle for the Germans. Both teams will have to be on their toes to fight out for the coveted medal. Who do you think it will be? Let us know in the comments below.
