“I don’t know what’s going on. They just trapping me, man. I don’t know what to do. I’m not going to lie.” Anthony Edwards recently revealed his frustration about constantly being double-teamed during games. With Karl-Anthony Towns gone, Ant is clearly the primary focus for all opposing teams, leading to his struggles on the offensive end. Yes, the KAT trade has been a massive adjustment. But vet analyst Marc J Spears believes it’s now Edwards’ responsibility to take charge, even getting the nod from DeMarcus Cousins.

Addressing the Wolves’ biggest issue on NBA Today, Spears had said, “Consistency. They gotta be the most frustrating team in the NBA right now.” Well, they were the best defensive team in the league last season, which was a major reason for their postseason success. But they have fallen to eighth in defensive ratings this year because of their inconsistent performance.

Spears remarked, “They’re still adjusting to this trade, but how long do they gotta adjust to this trade? They need to figure it out, and I think for Ant, they need him to show more leadership. Get the better out of his guys.”

However, instead of being a true leader, Anthony Edwards has constantly shown frustration toward the current situation. DeMarcus Cousins also called the youngster out for it on the Run It Back pod, “Young fella and I’m speaking to Ant, when it comes to success and finding success in this league, you have one great year and the next year, teams are locked in. So, this is a part of the game. This is the part where you have to get in the lab and get better. Don’t get frustrated with the defense and the way people are guarding you. You gotta figure it out.”

So, rather than feeling helpless, Boogie urged Ant-Man to use that frustration as motivation to improve his game and find a way to fight double teams and help his squad of Wolves win. “That’s all you can really do in this situation,” he added with a certain hint of positivity toward the youngster. Moreover, Cousins also had advice for Minnesota’s talisman that could save him a lot of money.

To be a good leader, a person should be able to control his emotions both on and off the court. However, Edwards has been unable to do so this season. And he has paid a hefty penalty for it. Yes, he has lost $235,000 in fines so far because of his controversial antics, and the majority of it came last month. Of course, the biggest blow was the $100,000 penalty right before New Year’s Eve for using “profane language” during a live interview.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Anthony Edwards rise above the double teams, or is he crumbling under the pressure?

Have an interesting take?

Just a week prior, he lost $75,000 for publicly criticizing officials and using profane language yet again. You get the pattern.

And Cousins had important advice for ANT to avoid such incidents, “The same thing they love you for is the same thing they’ll kill you for… I know they’ve let you be your authentic self. They’ve promoted it and they’re all for it, but they are also burning you with the same thing they love. So, you know, walk that thin line, be smart about it. Sometimes, it’s just better to shut up.”
