The Sacramento Kings were in action against the Chicago Bulls at the United Center on Sunday. Although the game was a steamy affair in itself, it was a special occasion for Sacramento star, DeMar DeRozan who had a warm homecoming after signing with the Kings over the summer in free agency after three seasons in the Windy City.
DeRozan received a standing ovation from the Chicago crowd followed by a video tribute in his first game back at the United Center. This gesture meant a lot to the 35-year-old who felt like he spent much more time than just three seasons in there. “Stuff like that goes a long way, man,” said DeRozan. He further added, “I’m always humbled by any type of appreciation from my time anywhere.”
After reminiscing about the good times in Chicago, the veteran made a bold claim regarding Bulls star Zach LaVine. He said, “The way Zach is playing, I hope he makes the All-Star. I hope he’s credited for the play he’s been having. I mean it’s not easy man that dude works extremely hard.” DeRozan showed appreciation for his former teammate suggesting LaVine is making a strong case to be named in this year’s All-Star team.
