What has the Sacramento Kings squad been like since Mike Brown left? In all fairness, nothing much has changed. The isn’t performing the way the front office would’ve hoped. And the intensity around De’Aaron Fox’s future with the team continues to create some eyebrows. Not everything is merry in the locker room, and DeMar DeRozan has everything to talk about it.
The 35-year-old, 6x All-Star forward, joined the Kings, knowing De’Aaron Fox was the franchise star. Now, just months later, Fox is caught in swirling trade rumors. Some say he wants out. Others insist he’s happy in Sacramento. As you can guess, the uncertainty hangs heavy. For DeRozan, it’s more than just noise—it could decide his next move. Speaking on Run It Back FDTV, the All-Star guard hinted at the ripple effect. If Fox goes, does DeRozan follow?
“It’s tough because looking at the landscape before I came here those were the guys I talked to, Fox, Domantas, and Malik,” DeRozan said. “Those are the core guys that made it easy for me to make my decision to play here. A key juggernaut in Fox, not knowing the future of that, does make it tough. I don’t have much time left, I’m not trying to play another 5 years.”

Fox’s teammate further added: “I want to try to maximize the opportunity we have now to play with a great team. You never know when dominoes fall the wrong way when it comes to an organization it makes it tough. So it’s something we just have to wait out and see in the meantime make the most out of it.”
There’s no secret in the fact that De’Aaron Fox has been the face of the Kings since 2017. Currently, he’s averaging 25.1 PPG and has a 46.8 FG%. But, the stats aren’t enough to keep him on the team. Someone is making—or has already made—a complex and secret decision, but we have yet to find out! And maybe it’s more than one destination the 27-year-old point guard is aiming for.
Is De’Aaron Fox getting involved in a three-trade destination?
A lot has been going on around the Sacramento Kings star De’Aaron Fox. Right after the team fired head coach Mike Brown, there were talks that the 27-year-old had some influence in it. Since then, life’s been tumultuous for the point guard. The biggest conversation has been about him being traded from the Kings to elsewhere. This ‘elsewhere’ could be a one-shot decision, however, things are indicated overwise. Reports suggested that if Fox could make it to the All-Star games this season, he could qualify for a five-year supermax extension worth a projected $345 million.
But then, he did not sign an extension over the summer break in 2024 which further fuels the rumors going around. Meanwhile, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that the Kings are opening up trade talks for De’Aaron Fox in advance of next Thursday’s trade deadline. Now, Vince Goodwill of Yahoo Sports reported: “There is a list. It’s a small list. That list is not one, but at the top of the list, I think is the San Antonio Spurs, the Miami Heat, and the who’s the other team? Then the Portland Trailblazers.”

There have been several theories and speculations about De’Aaron Fox moving to the Spurs and teaming with Wemby. Now the question is, what are the odds here? Also, Miami Heat doesn’t sound so bad, especially because he has his old friend Bam Adebayo playing on the team. Fox could be a good option for them if they want to trade Jimmy Butler (maybe). But, Portland? Well, that came as a surprise!
