Is Anthony Edwards the new threat to Stephen Curry's dominance in Team USA?

The starter combos that coach Steve Kerr is dribbling during the pre-exhibition games might not have gone as well as he expected them to, yet he has always brought out the best in Team USA in the second quarter. Comprising of the potential future face of the NBA, Anthony Edwards, and the league’s Golden Boy, Stephen Curry, USA crushed Serbia with their impeccable shooting in the last game. While preparing for their next exhibition game in the training camp, Curry and Edwards showcased their skills, as they practiced half-court shooting.

The official USA Basketball page shared the video on X. The video featured how Edwards shot the ball in the hoop without touching the rim and sliding through the rim like a splash. As the practice proceeded, the Splash assassin himself went on to make the shot from the half-court, but it was not as smooth as Ant-Man’s. Moving ahead, Anthony scored another hoop, recreating the swoosh effect similar to his first half-court shot.

However, as Stephen Curry went for his second shot, something happened that the Warriors fans never expected. The Splash master of the NBA missed the chance to score the basket from the half-floor as the ball hit on the left side of the rim. Seems impossible, isn’t it? But he missed.

One of the astonishing facts from Curry’s career shooting chart is that he has missed about six out of his ten 3-point shooting attempts on average. And the shooting competition that he had with Edwards was for half-court shooting. No wonder there were chances of failure, but it didn’t go well with his fans, as they could not bear the sight of someone beating the supposedly best shooter in the league.

The Golden State Warriors fans who consider Stephen Curry their best shooter due to his lethal clutch shooting abilities, could not fathom that Ant beat their star. That’s why one of the X users requested the USA Basketball X page admin to remove the video from the platform, as he commented, “Delete this.”

Another user joined the charade. With the way he commented to delete the video of the Warriors star from the page, it seemed he was quite offended. “Aye delete this,” the fan wrote. The comment looked more like an order than a request.

One Warriors fanatic did not post any request to delete the video, but he took a dig at Anthony Edwards that he could not deliver such shots in crunch moments. “Let me know when ant shoots like this in a big game,” the user wrote. On the other hand, Stephen Curry is adept at shooting in crunch situations, even when he is tired.

An X user that stood out among all those comments was the one who credited Stephen Curry for teaching the splash techniques to Edwards, despite the former missing his second half-court shot. “ANT learning from the best,” the netizen remarked.
