Decades Before His Billionaire Stature, Teenage LeBron James Was Suspended for Flaunting a $19,277 Luxury

LeBron James has had a legendary stint in the NBA, ascending the ranks to become one of the greatest to ever play the game. However, before his reign in the NBA, he was a teen sensation in the St. Vincent-St. Mary high school.

LeBron James has had an incredibly successful career on the court. But his business acumen and decisions off court have made him amass an unprecedented wealth. The Los Angeles Lakers forward became the first active NBA player to reach the billionaire status. Despite his luxurious lifestyle, James has always had a humble outlook towards spending his money. However, a story from his days as a high school sensation has come as a shock.

LeBron James’ teenage trouble

Before LeBron James even entered the NBA, he was touted as the greatest draft prospect in NBA history. His potential and skills were hailed as a generational find. In fact, James’ potential was so significant that he became the first ever player to have his high school game nationally televised.

During his senior year in high school, the then 18 year old was seen driving around his hometown, Akron, in a hummer SUV. This move proved to be costly for the 19 time All Star.

Due to his actions, James suffered a two match suspension from the Fighting Irish. He was punished for his action of accepting improper benefits as an amateur athlete. James however came back strongly after his suspension to lead the Fighting Irish to their third state title in his four seasons with the side.

LeBron James has seen tremendous success off the court. Be it his acquisition of the EPL club, Liverpool F.C. or his lifetime contract with Nike, James has not missed a beat in amassing unprecedented wealth. However, when it comes to spending this, the 4 time MVP has been extremely smart.
