Is Paul George still in the Clippers hangover? The 8x NBA All-Star completely forgets his new superstar teammate, Joel Embiid, while praising Team USA. The Olympic semi-final against Serbia was nothing short of a cliffhanger. LeBron James & Co. came out alive late in the game and left the hoops community at a standstill. While it wasn’t a one-man show, PG and Trae Young debated over the MVP of the game. The stars picked their favorite stars and Philly’s latest addition forgot to even acknowledge the big man!
In the latest episode of Podcast P with Paul George, Atlanta Hawks star, Ice Trae, joined the crew as a guest. Without a doubt, they had to talk about Team USA’s herculean effort. Cashing on it, one of the hosts asked the stars to name their MVP from that game. George went first and picked LeBron James without any hesitation. Of course, the superstar produced the rare feat of dropping a triple-double in an Olympic game. On the other hand, Young felt Stephen Curry‘s contribution saved the night.
However, PG didn’t just hail Bron, he gave credit to other players as well. The new Philadelphia 76ers star added, “I’m not taking no credit away from what Steph did. When you talk about the big three… KD, Bron, Steph. They all played major roles in every part of that game.” Nevertheless, he gave the ultimate credit to King James. But little did he know that he missed out on his new teammate, Joel Embiid.

Paul George had a moment of realization when one of the hosts casually mentioned “Joel”. The star forward sprung out of his chair, and said, “I’m glad you brought Joel… when we had this question Joel was in that part of my answer… Cause Joel also, if Joel didn’t go and get some of those baskets and some of those blocks and challenging Joker at the rim and if his presence wasn’t on that floor either we lose.”
Following the snub, the stars hail Joel Embiid
The semi-final game was indeed a much-needed morale booster for the Cameroonian star. Ever since Joel Embiid set foot in Paris, he was constantly booed. On top of it, he didn’t have a decent run in the Paris Olympics, struggling to find buckets and guard the rim. However, Embiid squashed all of it with a breakout performance, dropping 19 points and 4 rebounds, becoming the second-highest scorer for the team. Apart from that, the big man took charge at the rim, restricting Nikola Jokić on multiple occasions.
Following Paul George’s praise for Embiid, Trae Young continued, “Both had big moments, Bron and Joel. But Joel had later in the game had some big-time defensive plays.” However, Young still considered Steph the MVP of the night and gave 2A to James and 2B to Embiid.
