One of the biggest lessons from the NBA last week is no one is safe. Luka Doncic, a generational talent, was traded out without any heads-up. The same went for Anthony Davis. Similarly, there’s another ironic occurrence in the league. The 8th-year guard De’Aaron Fox, who forced the trade out of Sac-Town, had found himself in a conflicting spot with the Spurs rookie, Stephon Castle. Nevertheless, it came down to a quick resolution as Fox caved in after following his wife Recee’s direction.
Before I drag too much, let’s look at the conflicting situation. We all know that Fox donned the iconic #5 for the Kings. It would certainly look odd to witness him with any other number. Unfortunately, we will have to watch him wear a different number now. Fox’s #5 collided with rookie Stephon Castle, leaving the guard with no option other than moving with an alternate number.
It’s ironic and strange that an All-Star had to change his jersey number for a rookie. Either way, De’Aaron Fox has found a special number that will pay tribute to his wife. The star guard has opted to don #4 for the Spurs and the pictures from the latest jersey photoshoot have already surfaced on the internet.

Initially, it was reported that Fox would don #2, the same number that Kawhi Leonard wore during his Spurs stint. Later, the 27-year-old seemed to have changed his mind and picked #4, honoring Recee, who donned the same number during her time at Johnson High School in San Antonio.
Recee, a former baller, was a basketball sensation during her playing days. After securing McDonald’s All-American tag, averaging 20.0 ppg, 5.5 aps, and 3.4 spg in high school, she moved to UCLA for her college stint. Interestingly, she donned #5 jersey there. However, it’s only a tribute to wear her high school jersey number while moving back to her hometown, San Antonio.

Hours before the Spurs trade, Recee dropped a hint to the fans about De’Aaron Fox
Recee was present for Fox’s last game as a Kings player. The team played against the OKC Thunder and it was a disastrous loss for the Sac Town, as Shai & Co. ended the game with a blowout 144-110 win. Recee, who found a spot in the third row of the courtside seats, sitting along with her newborn, dropped the hint via IG stories.
It was a video of her husband, checking into the game after a brief break, and the camera slowly panned to the baby, sleeping on her lap. The story also carried a caption that read, “Something couldn’t hang.” It looks like she had intended something there.

Nevertheless, a few days ago, she diverted the Sac fans in a now-deleted tweet, writing, “Still has never asked for a trade btw…especially while being in the midst of a good run. That should clear.”
While it comforted the fans, it didn’t last long as days after the trade, De’Aaron Fox moved out. What do you make of the trade? Will Fox and Wemby win a ring together? Let us know in the comments.
