How stunning does it look when the NBA and NFL come together? While it may be difficult on the court or field, the fusion of it can be breathtaking. That’s exactly what Stephen Curry proved after his latest launch of De’Aaron Fox‘s signature pair caught the eyes of an NFL star and he too wanted something similar. The Curry Fox 1 certainly turned heads, but it left jaws on the floor when the football version of it dropped. And who better to rock them than Justin Jefferson?
The Vikings’ wide receiver stepped out in a new pair of purple cleats on Sunday against the Seahawks, that closely resemble the Curry Fox 1. Well, that’s because the sneakers were specially customized drawing inspiration from Fox’s pair. Jefferson’s cleats featured a deeper shade of purple with subtle design changes and the spikes had a glossy dual-tone finish. Excited by the news, Fox’s wife, Reece, couldn’t resist sharing it on her Instagram story.
The Curry brand’s founder himself unveiled the new pair at Sneaker Con and later shared it on his IG story with a fox emoji. The designer, The Surgeon, who crafted the cleats also posted a picture of them with the caption, “The Curry Fox 1 PE custom made for @jjettas2 . Taking love and inspiration from the @currybrand & @underarmour families – bringing the court and field together in a celebration of design and performance.”

The Warriors’ leader partnered with the $3.5 billion brand, Under Armour, to launch the Curry Brand and signed De’Aaron Fox as the brand’s ambassador four years ago. The choice wasn’t easy for the Kings guard to settle with the new brand but Curry made a promise to him that helped seal the deal.
Stephen Curry fulfilled his promise to De’Aaron Fox
Stephen Curry knew “there’s no better guy than him (Fox)” but it wasn’t that simple for Fox. The 27-year-old received a lucrative offer from New Balance along with Curry’s deal, which he discussed on The Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis. “For me at the end was, it was Curry brand. It was New Balance,” he recalled, listing his two options. “New Balance actually offered me more,” he said. “But Curry brand offered me a sig. So I’m like, okay, I’m not hard on money. I’m good.”

Though the offer from New Balance was higher, Fox was more interested in launching his own signature shoe line. And that dream finally came true. The Curry Fox 1 officially hit the market on December 6 and has certainly been drawing eyes. And if that wasn’t enough, Jefferson’s cleats have certainly played their part in marketing the pair, generating more attention.
We can only hope that this is just the beginning and more such inspiration will be drawn from both fields. This is definitely a step forward for Curry’s brand, considering his ambitious goal of reaching the same heights as Michael Jordan’s iconic brand after a decade or two.
