De’Aaron Fox took a trip down memory lane ahead of the Kings’ match-up. It’s been a season of surprises for Sacramento basketball fans. While they have two stars, DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine, on the roster, a lot of them are on the shocking side of things. Not in their wildest dream, they would’ve expected their beloved franchise player to move out. Tonight, he is geared up to play against them for the first time. Ahead of it, he made a controversial confession about his new partner, Victor Wembanyama.
The league gave the French big man a season to make his case. He not only won the ROYT award but also attracted a competitive roster around him. Boom! Even before the rising superstar’s sophomore season could end, he has two All-Stars around him, Chris Paul and Fox. Unfortunately, the 21-year-old couldn’t stay healthy to test the new roster, as he sustained a season-ending injury.
Nevertheless, De’Aaron Fox, looking ahead to the future, opened up about an uncomfortable adjustment that he will have to make to continue with the Spurs. In a sitdown with ESPN, Fox revealed his two major problems. In the words of Fox, “Playing with a superstar is not easy because obviously, one, they demand the ball.” He added, “Two, they demand so much attention.” Moreover, the 27-year-old didn’t end it abruptly but brought in a comparison to make his case.

“It’s like playing with Steph. Everybody can’t play with Steph because you always have to look for him,” said the new Spurs leader. Standing in Fox’s shoes, it’s understandable for a player to feel this way who had been a cherished franchise all his career. However, Fox was ready to sacrifice it for one major reason. He continued, “At the end of the day, that m———– can win championships, and I think Vic can win championships. So, you obviously want to continue to play your game.”
Of course, with a generational talent by your side, you have to set your egos aside and get the job. And that’s what exactly Fox has planned to do, saying, “You learn how to play off someone like that.” Anyway, amid this latest mental adjustment, Fox made another confession, an emotional one.
De’Aaron Fox opens up ahead of the Kings’ match-up
Who would have thought that De’Aaron Fox would end up playing against the Sac Town? The purple and black uniform almost remained synonymous with the star guard. Tonight, he would don the black and silver uniform. It’s indeed a tough pill to swallow. It is what it is.

You know, what’s tougher to endure, watching the star take a trip down memory lane? Ahead of the game, Fox linked up with reporters on the court and they had the most obvious questions. Speaking of returning to the city, he said, “For people that I’ve come across already, uh, it’s been a lot of love, and I really appreciate that. Obviously, I mean, I was 19 years old when I got here, so, I was working with open arms, so I definitely appreciate the time that I had here.”

With Fox coming into the fold in the 2017-18 season, the franchise was sure of one thing, which was to build the team around him. Even when a talent like Tyrese Haliburton came in during the 2020-21 season, the team had to let him go within two seasons, and further established the trust on the young gun.

Now, times have changed. Fox didn’t seem to have forgotten anything, as he added, “I was raised here, I come from a very young man that’s raised in family… I had a lot of fun here, um, so it’s definitely not something I take for granted.” Truly an emotional moment.
