It was a night full of emotions as De’Aaron Fox returned to Sacramento. After spending his first seven and a half seasons in the league suiting up for the Sacramento Kings, everyone wanted to know how the 27-year-old guard felt on his return, after his recent remarks regarding his bitter exit from the franchise. Well, on the court he wasn’t on the right side of the results as the Kings secured a 127-109 win over the Spurs, thanks to Zach LaVine’s splendid performance. And off the court? It wasn’t too great either. The former Sacramento guard has previously stated that he wasn’t on good terms with several people in the organization, including his teammates. Except for one person!
Recently, a video of De’Aaron’s wife, Recee Fox who was in attendance for Fox’s return to Northern California, surfaced. In the video, she seems to be in a heated conversation with Fox’s former teammate and Kings star, Malik Monk. While it’s hard to tell what the two were talking about but from the looks, it doesn’t seem great. This video confirms the rumors that Fox had a fallout with many people from the franchise. Nonetheless, he still maintains a great connection with one of his former teammates, Keegan Murray.
After the Friday game, while talking to the media, Fox commented, “We’re about to go get dinner, but he had to go let Ali out first. So, no, I love Keegan and, I mean, we still talk and we still talk all the time.” Well, it’s a big night for Fox and, of course, he needed to have a long chat with his old comrade. The Kings forward and De’Aaron’s friendship goes way back. Fans first witnessed their closeness on the court when Murray won an offensive rebound and Stephon Castle got his fifth foul. Murray threw some friendly banter at Fox, saying “Get your rook, Fox.” trash talking to his then teammate.

Before the game at Golden 1 Center, Keegan Murray expressed that he wished De’Aaron would have a positive reception in his return to Fox’s former home court. And the reaction? It was mixed, as expected. While it might be all good between Murray and Fox, the same cannot be said for the Spurs’ star’s relationship with the management, as new revelations about his trade to San Antonio have come to light.

“The organization didn’t have my back.”: says De’Aaron Fox confirming a rift between Sacramento and him
De’Aaron Fox’s better half having a heated exchange with Malik Monk is one of the many complex dynamics attached to the 27-year-old’s exit from the franchise. Apart from a selective number of teammates, Fox had more people he trusted then — Kings HC, Mike Brown. Fox was a strong supporter of the former Sacramento head coach and wanted him to continue in the position for much longer. However, despite him making it clear that he wanted Brown at the helm, the management didn’t pay their superstar’s voice any mind.

Brown’s exit and how the Sacramento Kings handled it made a huge turning point in Fox’s playing career. He decided that it was time to part ways with the organization after committing to it for so many years. Recently, in an interview with ESPN’s Michael Wright, the former Sacramento star revealed how it all went down. “You fire the coach, and you don’t do an interview?” He stated. Suggesting that even if Brown had to go, the appropriate way to address the situation was through organizing a presser, which the Kings’ management didn’t think was necessary.

On top of that, all of the blame for Brown’s firing was put on Fox’s shoulder as per him. Making matters even worse. “So, all the blame was on me. Did it weigh on me? No. I don’t give a f—. But the fact y’all are supposed to be protecting your player and y’all let that happen. … I felt at the time the organization didn’t have my back.” Said Fox. While he didn’t let it get to him, Fox expected the management to extend their support toward him. Did they do that? Unfortunately, no. After seeing all this unfold right before his eyes, Fox made up his mind and requested a trade to the Spurs. Well, now he’s in a much better place and hopes to achieve his ultimate goal of winning the championship with his new team.
