The Philadelphia 76ers are gearing up for the preseason, which kicks off on October 7. Training camp began on October 1, marking the end of their break. As the grind resumes, Joel Embiid surprised fans with his sporting interest outside the hoops. Instead of just focusing on basketball, the Sixers vet dives into the world of MLB. Entering his 11th season, The Process seems intrigued by Philadelphia’s other teams! He’s been a Phillies supporter through and through. And well, it has been a happy time for the fans.
As the team heads into another postseason run, Joel Embiid cannot keep calm. However, just like the NBA, nothing comes easy in the world of baseball. But if the Phillies can stay hot and turn it red, then brace yourselves for one of the most exciting playoffs of the season! “MLB Postseason is here!!!!” Joel Embiid shared on his X handle. Well, we know why he’s exuding such excitement.
The 7-foot center is a supporter of Kyler Schwarber & Co. and he’s been to several games and proudly wears the Phillies jersey. However, Joel Embiid didn’t miss out on saying, “Yup Ohtani is the GOAT” when the Japanese baseball pitcher created history. In September, Shohei of the LA Dodgers sent shockwaves after accomplishing a 20-4 win over the Miami Marlins in South Florida. Ohtani hit 3 homers and also stole 2 bases giving him 51 this season, respectively, becoming the first player to reach the 50/50 club.

The 7x NBA All-Star has shed 25 to 30 pounds over the offseason to focus on staying healthy for the playoffs! Fans are expecting to see a leaner and meaner Joel Embiid for the 2024-25 season. This decision to shed was probably the hooper’s brainchild following his 39-game stint last season. Due to a torn left knee meniscus that saw him struggle miserably at the playoffs. Something in Joel shook to the core, after the team’s defeat, the 30YO seemingly called the front office to find some solution.
Joel Embiid expressed, “There is whatever it takes to make sure that I get to that point where I’m ready to go. Every single year in my career I’ve been hurt in the playoffs. So I think that’s the goal. It’s all about doing whatever it takes to get there.”
So the hooper who was admitted at 280 pounds last season will be around 245 to 250 this time. Surely, this will help in his performance in some way or the other. He might have seen losing weight as the only option to improve his playoff performance.
Joel Embiid is gearing up for a big season, both on and off the court. His passion for the Phillies shows his love for Philadelphia sports. As he watches their playoff run, he is also preparing for his own. Determined to change his fate, he aims to avoid the playoff injuries that plagued him for years. “Still want to lose more, but it’s a process. (Morey) would tell you this- As soon as we lost last year, I texted him and I was like, ‘We’ve got to do whatever it takes to make sure that, in the postseason, I’m healthy,’” Embiid explained.
