The Golden State Warriors have been one of the most active teams in this year’s offseason. From blockbuster trades to surprising acquisitions, the Dubs have done it all. One of their most astonishing moves, however, was when they traded Jordan Poole to acquire 38-year-old veteran Chris Paul.
Stephen Curry has lately been all praises for the Warriors’ acquisition of the 12-time All-Star. Keeping their on-court rivalry aside, Curry has shown love to his current teammate on multiple occasions. In a recent interview however, Curry seemed to have some shade for his ex-teammate Poole.

Stephen Curry throws shade at Jordan Poole
Stephen Curry and Chris Paul have been among the best point guards in the league for several years. The duo had the most intense rivalry during Chris Paul’s Los Angeles Clippers days.
However, when he had to welcome Paul as his own teammate, Curry only had appreciation for him. Paul received a warm welcome in Golden State. Unfortunately, Poole’s exit did not get the warmest response.

In a recent interview, Curry was asked his opinion on the team’s upgraded roster and the competition in the Western Conference. Curry stated, “The competition is always high…you kind of know who the top echelon of the West, and even the East is.”
He further talked about the teams making changes to their rosters, saying, “Obviously, Denver winning, they’re a very complete team…every team is trying to take stock of what they have.”
"Our team makes a lot more sense this year."

However, talking about the Warriors, Curry said, “For us, it was about trying to make the pieces fit a little bit better…that’s what we are, and we feel like our team makes a lot more sense this year.”. He also stated their goals for the season, saying, “It’s just the matter of again, going out and playing…there’s a lot of good teams and we wanna be one of them.”
Jordan Poole enjoyed heavy minutes in most games and had a major role in the Warriors’ offence last season. With Poole being the only player to not return to the Warriors despite playing heavy minutes last season, Curry’s statements may have been a pointed dig at him.
But how will Poole fare off the Warriors roster?

Poole has a new beginning
Jordan Poole was a central piece in the Warriors roster last season coming off the bench. Often being considered the ‘Third Splash Brother’, the 24-year-old had a major role with the Warriors. However, he could not deliver when the time came.
Poole had a string of underwhelming outings in the playoffs last season. After having an impressive regular season, Poole could not deliver when it mattered the most. The Warriors, in need of another guard who could space the floor and make plays, traded for Chris Paul, eventually landing Poole in Washington.

With the Washington Wizards entering a rebuild stage, Poole may play a pivotal role with them. Joining forces with Kyle Kuzma and Tyus Jones, Poole will certainly have a big responsibility on his back. After his underwhelming playoff performance, Poole will have a new beginning in Washington as the franchise’s new potential starting guard.
