Another season, another James Harden trade demand. After just one and a quarter of a season with the Philadelphia 76ers, Harden is done with there. His chemistry and pick-and-roll style looked impeccable with a strong Joel Embiid, but the guard is looking for a more alluring market. Like Damian Lillard for whom it is no Heat, no play, the All-Around talent has a specific demand.

As he looks for the bright lights of LA, he can end up reuniting with a former teammate.

The Philadelphia 76ers have left no stone unturned to get the amazing player for another season. He had a deal on the plate that would have paid him around $47 million a season. However, he opted in for a $35 million player option, demanding a trade. The 76ers’ owner Josh Harris met him personally during Michael Rubin’s Fourth of July party, but even that doesn’t seem enough to convince him.

The Athletic’s veteran journalist Sam Amick reports that even though there is a belief among the executives that the 76ers are going to hold on to him, he wants a change of scenery. His choice is the Los Angeles Clippers. Amick had earlier also reported that the 10x All-Star is “unhappy” in Philly.

Thus, the scenario for the 76ers has become as unconducive as it gets. They love the duo of Harden and Joel Embiid and have championship aspirations. They have repeatedly told him that they want him here, but the former MVP is determined to don a Clippers jersey.

The 76ers are in dreaded waters and they will have to move cautiously to craft a trade. Will they make another effort to convince him? It is likely to fall flat again.

The LA Clippers recently retained Russell Westbrook on a comparatively miserly $8 million deal for two years. If the stellar Harden makes a turn to the squad, he will be in for a third stint with Westbrook.

The two were teammates when Westbrook, Kevin Durant and Harden formed the core of the Oklahoma City Thunder squad that made it to the 2012 Finals.

As Harden was no longer a bench-level player, he moved to the Houston Rockets. Beastbrook and The Beard united again there for a solitary season. The duo couldn’t make it past the Los Angeles Lakers in the West Semis and that was the end of the partnership.
