Basketball is a sport where records, achievements and legacies are often used as measures of greatness. Stephen Curry has had an exceptional journey, accomplishing notable milestones and leaving a lasting impression on the NBA. During the 2015-16 season, the Golden State Warriors guard broke the all-time 3-point record held by Ray Allen. It was one of his greatest achievements.

In a recent interview, despite being a considerable number of all-time points away from LeBron James, who recently surpassed Los Angeles Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the all-time points leader in NBA history, Curry found solace in another milestone that remains close to his heart.

Curry recently found himself in the midst of a momentous disclosure made by his mother, Sonya Curry, in a moving documentary titled Underrated. Thirteen days after the documentary was released, Chef Curry appeared on Wired. On The Web’s most searched questions, he answered some of the most exciting questions that people search on the Internet. One of the most interesting things that people wanted to know was, “Where is Steph Curry on the scoring list?”

Though he wasn’t entirely certain of his exact rankings, he humbly suggested it to be around the 48th spot. While this places him significantly away from King James’ historic achievement of becoming the all-time points leader, Curry found immense pride in a different milestone that holds a special place in his heart.

Curry said, “I wanna say, I’m at 48 or something but I don’t know where I’m at.” But moments after his response, the host asked him, “Was there anyone you felt significant passing?”

Curry gave a heartfelt response to this. He said, “It sounds crazy because it was a long time ago – Pops, my Dad. Most of his career especially towards the end, and all the milestones that he has. So, to pass him in the scoring books is just, you know, something, that’s special.” For Curry, surpassing his father on the all-time list was a special moment.
