Despite a challenging year,?Brittney Griner now thrives with the Phoenix Mercury. In a recent game against the Washington Mystics, she contributed 11 points and eight rebounds in a 91-72 victory. Although the stats aren’t boast-worthy, she came across a moment in Phoenix Mercury’s history.
By securing her fourth rebound in the third quarter with 8:19 left, Griner became the Mercury’s all-time leading rebounder. She surpassed DeWanna Bonner’s record of 2,072 rebounds over a 10-year stint with the team. At the end of the game, Griner had 2,077 rebounds in her bag.
