The Lakers, seeded 9th, will not play the Golden State Warriors, the Grizzlies and the New Orleans Pelicans. Despite being 1.5 games away from the 6th spot on the table, their chances to skip the play-in remain dismal. Even if they manage to win all the coming season games, Lakers fate will be decided on how well Phoenix Suns, the Kings and Pelicans perform before April 15.

Moreover, with a play-in spot solidifies, there is little to no urgency in bringing AD back to play. However, if the Lakers deploy a contrasting approach to end the season, they will definitely need AD back in action right away.
