As always, the Lakers are going to be the talk of the town all year long whether they are in title contention or not. A lot of it has to do with LeBron James teaming up with Bronny, making them the first active father-son duo in league history. Not only on the hardwood, but even the Lakers locker room will cater to a unique dynamic that no one has seen before. D’Angelo Russell revealed a glimpse of LeBron and Bronny’s locker room relationship and how it has already begun impacting the Lakers’ environment.
Recently becoming a new girl dad himself, D’Lo was asked how LBJ joining forces with his son translates to him. Russell replied to this question by asserting, “Yeah, I mean you see it already. Obviously, Bron in the locker room with his son, so there are father-son moments there. For me, I respect it and I appreciate it. It’s really different because you haven’t. I have never seen that.”
Then, the Lakers guard revealed how the locker room dynamic has changed so quickly, “To normalize it right away is crazy. But I think, for us to continue to see that, it’s becoming more normal to see those conversations and those encounters. It’s becoming normal.” While seeing a father-son duo sharing the court is a unique situation, it will now become a daily occurrence for the Lakers and they will soon move past it to focus on their title aspirations.

Moreover, Bronny is trying his best to stay away from his father’s shadow and create a unique identity. When asked if he would be carpooling with LeBron to work, the teenager hilariously replied, “Definitely not. Its already so much that we’ve been grouped together as I would like to stay as away as possible from that guy.” Sure, keeping in mind his dad’s stature, Bronny will constantly be asked about LeBron and their relationship at work. But his only focus is to be productive in his rookie season. On the other hand, D’Lo is learning a lot about fatherhood from his Lakers’ teammates.
D’Angelo Russell has gotten ‘great’ fatherhood lessons from Anthony Davis and Rob Pelinka
Well, Russell and the rest of the Lakers squad are gradually getting used to LeBron and Bronny’s father-son dynamic in their camp. Nevertheless, other dads in the team have taught some valuable fatherhood lessons to D’Lo. It was only a couple of months ago that he welcomed a new baby girl to his family. And the Lakers camp has somehow become the perfect place for him to learn more about being a dad to a daughter, “I mean obviously AD, we connected earlier last year. He invited me to his house and things like that. I got to see his relationship with his daughter… He kind of broke that down to me.”
Moreover, D’Lo is even picking things up from GM Rob Pelinka, “Pelinka as well. I think giving me some great feedback on just fatherhood, boy dad girl dad perspective… It’s cool to have that.” With so many veteran leaders in his team, Russell has surely found a great environment to grow both as a basketball player and as a father. And the lessons will likely keep on coming as he gets the firsthand experience of seeing LeBron and Bronny’s relationship grow throughout their Lakers’ tenure. What are your thoughts?
