Dan Hurley has been the talk of the basketball world after the UConn coach rejected the offer from the mighty Lakers. Since he was in talks with Pelinka’s front office for the head coach position, the name of Bronny James, LeBron’s son, always pops up in everyone’s mind. The 19-year-old is anticipated to join the LA side at the draft. But it’s still a far road ahead. Nevertheless, Bronny is considered a hardworking athlete, especially since his Draft Combine eye-opener. However, Hurley holds an even more positive opinion of LeBron’s son.

When Hurley was asked about Bronny James, the Huskies coach accumulated heaps of praise for the young gun. “I love Bronny. We have kind of a unique style of the way that we play offense here at UConn. Our tactics and strategies, I think are a little bit more unique…He would have been incredible at our system with the way that we play basketball.” He further added the nuances that the 19-year-old could have helped him with while playing at UConn.

“He’s so athletic, he defends. But then he’s such a smart player, and you know, he could shoot, he could pass, he’s got a great feel, he could play a couple of different guard spots, “ the Huskies coach said on the LeBatard Show, as he explored the various possibilities that Bronny could have fulfilled at Connecticut. Bronny did not play under Hurley and developed a different kind of style at USC.

So, Hurley has now made it clear that he quite likes LeBron’s son and his developing basketball career, but did all of this affect his call to accept the Lakers gig? According to Dan’s latest revelation, LeBron James was in contact with him during the HC talks.

Despite “some text messages” with Bronny James’ father, Dan Hurley left the Lakers!

On the Colin Cowherd show, Dan Hurley unhesitantly revealed that when the Lakers presented him with a lucrative offer, he was in contact with LeBron James.“We had some text messages…Over the course of weekend, talking about basketball and some different things.”

Hurley revealed it “blew his mind” that LeBron made sure to make him comfortable. King James assured the 51-year-old that the latter would have his support if he were there in LA. But as it turns out, the Lakers could not land DH with an offer expected to be $100 million.

Moreover, it was not just about basketball; it seems LeBron was sharing a vision with Hurley. The Huskies coach mentioned how he had a chat with James about the “win” that the Lakers are craving for. For now, the Lakers don’t have that privilege, as Hurley is not the HC. Apart from that, Bronny might still land in the Lakers, but he’ll grow under a different guide. That’s something that only time will tell.
