Soccer and F1 might rule Europe, but there’s another game making noise—EuroLeague basketball. Now, why are we talking hoops across the Atlantic? Here’s the twist: Milwaukee Bucks star Damian Lillard might have his eyes on Europe. Yep, you heard that right. But, what’s cooking with this veteran guard?
Damian Lillard, the 8-time NBA All-Star, just dropped an intriguing hint. The Bucks superstar opened up about wrapping up his career—wait for it—in Europe. When asked about playing for Barcelona post-NBA, his answer turned heads. “It’s something I’ve talked about with some members of my family the past two years but not seriously thought about,” Lillard admitted when talking to Toni Canyameras from Mundo Deportivo. “What if I went and played on a Euroleague team just because of the experience at the end of my career?”
“But it’s something I haven’t seriously thought about. But you never know,” Lillard added. If Dame ever suits up in Europe, blame it on a friend. Earlier this season, FC Barcelona’s soccer ace Dani Olmo swung by Milwaukee. The duo swapped jerseys, and who knows—maybe Olmo planted a Barca bug in Dame’s ear.

While this new conversation about the 34-year-old is catching the wind, his numbers this season are flying. Lillard is averaging 24.8 ppg, 4.4 rebounds, and 7.3 assists. Meanwhile, his FG% is a solid 44. But wait, there’s a new link between Dame’s Milwaukee Bucks and Jimmy Butler. Seriously, what is going on in the NBA this season? Another player in the drama? Or are these just speculations?
Sam Amick has a lot to talk about it.

Speaking on FanDuel TV’s Run It Back, Sam Amick of The Athletic shed some light on what’s brewing within Milwaukee. Jimmy Butler initially wanted to play anywhere away from Miami. And now reports are coming out specifically Memphis and Milwaukee catching strays in this one because apparently, those are the teams that don’t want to go there. Is that, is that true? Is that valid?
Damian Lillard’s team might be eyeing Jimmy Butler, but the situation’s unclear. Memphis? Not happening. “Memphis- what I’ve been told is Memphis for sure was told that Jimmy does not want to go there.” But Milwaukee? That’s a bit murky. Amick shared: “The Milwaukee thing, admittedly, I’m a little confused by it. It’s been confirmed in a couple of spots. I was told by somebody who a hundred percent would and should know that they had not—Jimmy’s camp had not, you know, kind of spoken on Milwaukee and also had been asked about Milwaukee.”
The reporter further noted: “Now there is chatter about the Bucks and the idea of them kicking it around. I would probably, regardless of exactly what was said, move off that possibility. I don’t sense a lot of eagerness from even the Bucks’s side, to go down that road. Like any good team, they’re going to consider certain things.” As you can understand, there is confusion around the Bucks’ choice, they may or may not be interested in the 35-year-old forward. Maybe Lillard’s side will wait for the ultimate verdict to leave Miami and then make a move. Who knows?

So, what’s really going on here? Damian Lillard’s career may be shifting toward Europe, with Barcelona lurking as a possible landing spot. But that’s just one twist. The Milwaukee Bucks might also have their eyes on Jimmy Butler, though it’s unclear if they’re actually eager to make a move. With both stories buzzing, it’s clear this NBA season is anything but predictable. Keep your eyes on Lillard and Butler—anything can happen.
