There will never be a season quite like the 2019-20 season. After the Coronavirus pandemic halting the NBA, and the world in general, the league decided to host the remaining season in Orlando. Players were put under a strict lockdown at Disney World. It would be an understatement to say that the players had never experienced anything like it before. However, the game continued, and the playoffs were played in the bubble.
The Los Angeles Lakers won that season’s title, but many fans and analysts underplayed that victory. Pundits like Skip Bayless suggested that an asterisk should have been put on the Lakers championship. However, Damian Lillard came out in defense of the Lakers championship. He said, “I think it count extra, cuz as an NBA player you got your everyday life. It can get heavy.” He added further, “In the bubble, ain’t no travel, your treatment was right there. It was so light, no travel, the practice was right there. It was all we had to think about. Everybody was they sharpest.” While many people discredit the bubble and the 2019-20 season, that season will go down as one of the most unique and enthralling seasons of the NBA.
