It seems like the Damian Lillard saga is never ending. Although huge superstar moves take a lot of time, this move in particular has been dragged on for too long. There is clearly interest from the Miami Heat and Lillard had specifically asked to be traded to South Beach when he submitted his trade request. However, there have been no valuable progress in the deal for months now. It looks like the Portland Trailblazers fanbase might be in for a surprise soon.

An NBA insider has revealed some enticing details about the potential trade. Interestingly, it looks like a trade between the two teams is finally materializing.

Damian Lillard inching closer to desired move

A few months ago, the Heat took on the Denver Nuggets and Nikola Jokic in the 2023 NBA Finals. The Jimmy Butler led side couldn’t get past the finish line and adding Lillard to their roster might make them a sureshot title contender next season.

As per Miami Heat insider Greg Sylvander, talks between the two teams have progressed in the span of the last 48 to 72 hours. This comes just days before teams call up their players for training camp.

This huge new update comes hours after Portland Trailblazers coach, Chauncey Billups, was seen with an $85 million rich Heat star. Billups was seated next to Kyle Lowry while Deion Sanders’ Colorado took on Colorado State recently.

Sylvander has been updating the Heat fanbase about the Lillard situation for quite some time now. Interestingly, he had also mentioned that Brooklyn Nets player Ben Simmons was discussed in the deal as part of a three team trade a few months ago.

However, there were no follow ups on this report and it looks like the Australian will be staying with the Nets, for now. He also revealed that both teams were not interested in taking Simmons.

Lillard’s social media antics caught the NBA world’s eyes

As he waits for his desired move to the Heat, Lillard has been dropping hints on social media and also on his rap songs. Recently, he deleted a cryptic Instagram story which caught the attention of fans.

The 2o13 Rookie of the Year had reposted an Instagram story by a fan who called him a ‘Future Heat Legend’. Although the 6-time NBA All-Star deleted the story, it was already doing the rounds on social media platforms.
