The Milwaukee Bucks went head-to-head against the San Antonio Spurs in tonight’s game. Gregg Popovic’s team was extremely shorthanded as they were missing their 19-year-old prodigy Victor Wembanyama. The rookie was ruled out of the game due to an ankle injury. Bucks guard Damian Lillard dominated the Spurs in Wembanyama’s absence. He started the game red-hot, scoring 19 points in the first quarter.

Lillard also achieved a huge career milestone in the opening minutes as the Bucks decimated the Victor Wembanyama-less San Antonio Spurs.

Milwaukee demolished the San Antonio Spurs in the first quarter and took a commanding 44-26 lead. Damian Lillard led the Bucks’ offense and went off for 19 points. The 7-time All-Star also surpassed 20,000 career points, reaching a new career milestone. Lillard reached the 20,000-point mark with an easy layup in the opening minutes. He dabbed up his co-star Giannis Antetokounmpo after his career achievement. Dame is in the 12th year of his illustrious NBA career. He played 11 years in Portland and became the pillar of the Trail Blazers franchise for more than a decade.

Lillard has solidified himself as one of the Greatest clutch players of all time. No one would have expected till last season that Dame would reach the 20,000-point mark in a uniform that was not the Portland Trail Blazers. Even after setting a new career milestone, Dame is showing no signs of slowing down. The 33-year-old is having a great first season with the Bucks. He is averaging 25.8 points and 7.1 assists. With this pace, Lillard will surpass the 21,000-point mark before the end of this season.

Damian Lillard joins elite company after reaching career milestone

Tonight’s game was historic for Damian Lillard in more ways than one. Not only did the 7-time All-Star surpass 20,000 career points, but he also joined an elite company. Lillard became the fourth player in NBA history to cross 20,000 points, 5000 assists, and 2000 three-pointers. The other three players to achieve this feat before Dame are LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and James Harden. That is some elite company for Dame, as the three mentioned names have a combined 8 Championships and 7 MVP trophies between them.

Lillard is the only player among the four who has not won either an MVP trophy or a championship. This is the year Lillard might want to change that. Dame requested a trade from Portland this summer after failing to win a title in 11 years. He got traded to a team that knows how to win championships. This year might be Dame’s best chance to win a ring. He has teamed up with 2-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, one of the best players in the league.
