Luka Doncic left the game twice in the Mavericks vs Grizzlies matchup on Tuesday. After a 103-120 loss to a short-handed Grizzlies, it was revealed that Doncic will be questionable because of ankle swelling. While he had finished the night with 31 points, it was clear that he was dealing with terrible discomfort. And now Dallas is getting ready to face the New York Knicks at home.
The latest injury update on the Slovenian superstar has left the team worried. Confirmed as a right ankle sprain, Luka Doncic will not be suiting up against former Mavs guard, Jalen Brunson and his team.

Joining Luka is Dante Exum, who will be missing his fifth game. Other players listed as doubtful are Maxi Kleber and Dereck Lively II, while Grant Williams is questionable with a right ankle sprain. Aside from Mitchell Robinson, the Knicks will be at full strength during their visit to Texas.
New York is the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference, while the Mavericks rank seventh in the Western Conference. Although their win-loss (Knicks: 22-15, Mavs: 22-16) record has just a one-game difference, Dallas has an 11-8 record at home. So, hopefully, the home-court advantage should be a motivating factor to win the game.
Having said that, the ‘Empire State’ is coming with a five-game winning streak. Can they extend it to six?
Luka Doncic update good news for the Knicks
Since the Anunoby trade, New York has been on an unbeatable streak. The last time both the teams went head-to-head was on December 27, 2022. The Mavs took home the victory in an overtime win. Doncic had dropped a jaw-dropping 60-point triple-double as the Knicks lost 121-126.

As mentioned above, this matchup was a highly anticipated one too. This will be the first time Jalen Brunson will set foot in the Airlines Center after he left for New York a year and a half ago. Unfortunately, Luka will not be on the floor. In his absence, the onus falls on Kyrie Irving. And while they managed to defeat the Blazers last Friday without Doncic, the likelihood of that happening here is low.
But there is a high chance of a similar lineup – Josh Green, Dwight Powell, Jaden Hardy, Irving, and Derrick Jones Jr. in the Knicks clash. Anyway, we can’t wait to see what will happen on Thursday!
