Within the Warriors organization, it is well understood that to be competitive, the roster might have to change. But if you confront Steve Kerr, he believes in working with what he has. “I think this group, we know we’re capable. What we saw early in the year, that was not a mirage,” he said after winning against the Thunder. And the nine-time champion is fully invested in harnessing their best once. With that, though, comes every version of Kerr.
Recently, when Draymond Green made his return to the Golden State Warriors, the veteran forward observed such a moment. Kerr, angered by the way the Warriors were playing, broke the clipboard. The younger players on the team were taken aback. So was Stephen Curry, but not for the same reason. Green revealed, “Steph said well only took him 49 games to break a clipboard”.
For the long-standing Warriors, Steve Kerr letting loose is a sight that shows his “fire”. Draymond Green and Curry might have loads of incidents where Kerr has broken through clipboards multiple times in a season. “He broke it in time out, he start yelling at us and Steve he punches the clipboard. One time I saw him do it before he cut his hand open. But Steve used to break clipboards all the time on us man,” Green revealed.

However, the revered head coach is also a man of patience. “Mild-mannered” is how Green describes him. But he is also the same guy that got under the skin of Michael Jordan.
Kerr’s yearning to win supersedes his general character.
“We used to bump heads because I didn’t understand his fire and he didn’t quite understand my fire. What we end up realizing is that we have the same fire and it clash you know and so once we learned that like no problem… he has an incredible amount of fire inside. He does a great job of channeling it. But when it come out it come out,” the Warriors forward revealed on the Draymond Green Show.
Steve Kerr acknowledges the Warriors are actively looking for players
Although Kerr does believe the current Warriors contingent, even he isn’t oblivious to the team’s need for more firepower. Kerr said, “We’ve also shown that we don’t have enough to separate ourselves from the rest of the West… we’re not in a position where we can just say ‘no we’re good, let’s stand pat”.

What’s your perspective on:
Is Kevin Durant the missing piece for the Warriors, or should they focus on developing young talent?
Have an interesting take?
So far, the Warriors front office hasn’t made any moves. But it’s not because they aren’t actively looking for players. They just aren’t willing to be reckless in their actions. All the top brass, which includes Kerr, Stephen Curry, and Green, have spoken about not jeopardizing the future of the franchise just to make one last run at a championship.
The approach has received mixed reactions. However, with the trade landscape now largely open to any moves, reports are suggesting a move is imminent for the Bay.
One player that has popped up on their radar is Kevin Durant. The stunning forward has been part of the Warriors culture and won two titles with the franchise. With the Phoenix Suns seemingly in the same position as the Bay, Brian Windhorst claims “they have now begun entertaining should we trade Kevin Durant?”.

The addition of the Slim Reaper could change the landscape for the Golden State Warriors. Not only would it be a seamless transition but Durant remains one of the most daunting scorers in today’s game. It would need some sacrifice. But with just one year remaining on his contract, the Warriors could easily make another major decision next season.
To remain competitive, it looks like the Warriors are more than willing to swing. Do you think Durant could be the answer? Let us know your views in the comments below.
