After causing havoc in the NBA in his rookie year, Victor Wembanyama is going into his first Olympic event with the French national team. Thanks to Joel Embiid‘s supposed betrayal, France will be unable to field a trio of 3 7-footers, but they still have two- Wemby and Rudy Gobert.
With Paris hosting the Olympic Games, the home team is due some special pampering. Having those favors on the court will be a foul claim, but it wouldn’t hurt if they come off the court. And that’s what the famed Mercure Hotel is offering.
According to reports from La Republique, the hotel hosting the French team is offering Victor Wembanyama and his NBA DPOY teammate customized beds for maximum comfort. Fitting the 7’4″ frame of Wemby is no task for a regular-sized bed. So the hotel, in collaboration with Daniel Sabbe wood counter, came up with the exact need for the duo with XXL beds. The comfort of sleep has been a constant issue for Wembanyama in his first season in the USA. “Life on the road it’s been different from being home, obviously. We have a very clear routine because everything is adapted in the hotels, for example, we get our breakfast at this time and we go practice this time. And for the beds, the person who takes care of it, they ask the hotels to put a extension,” Victor Wembanyama said about his life on the road in the NBA.

Victor Wembanyama admits life on the road has been "different" during his first season in the #NBA.
For example, have you ever wondered how the 7-foot-4 rookie sensation sleeps comfortably in a hotel bed?
I did, so I asked.#PorVida | @Spurs | @KVUE pic.twitter.com/87NHbA468K

But his bed troubles finally came to an end when he received a 9-foot bed, at least for his home after getting his $55,174,766 NBA contract. Thanks to Mercure, all these problems will now be an afterthought for Wemby as the focus shifts to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Victor Wembanyama continues his silly antics ahead of the Paris Olympics
France basketball had a head start in their preparation for the Olympics with the camp starting in the first week of June. Since then, Le Blues have played 5 exhibition games, excluding the one against Australia in progress at the time of writing. They had a 2-3 record in the exhibition entering tonight’s game, but that didn’t mean Wemby would miss out on some fun. The camera caught Victor Wembanyama bending his knees during a team photo, and the picture went viral after someone posted it online. Gobert, right beside him, was standing on his tiptoes to match Wemby’s height. Even the 4-time DPOY who scales to 7’1″ is dwarfed compared to Wemby.
Wemby is bending his legs and Gobert is on his tiptoes so that they can be the same height for the photo 😭
