When you think, “What worse could happen?” The worst walks your way. Joel Embiid’s knee issues and suspension weren’t enough trouble for the Philadelphia 76ers that the latest concern has turned up at their door. The star boy, despite 6 losses, Tyrese Maxey is out for a couple of weeks!
ESPN’s Senior NBA insider, Shams Charania reported: “Philadelphia 76ers All-Star Tyrese Maxey is expected to miss a couple of weeks because of a right hamstring injury.”

Further updates are yet to pour in, but the 24-year-old point guard is going to miss quite a lot of games for sure. But it is Philly that’s in more trouble because the shaky gameplay has put them on a back foot. Moreover, Embiid isn’t around to take the reins owing to his suspension of three games with no pay, as he “shoved a member of the media” in the locker room. However, the suspension count will only begin once the 30-year-old is eligible to play. This leaves Paul George as the only one to rely on.
Meanwhile, fans worry that some kind of ‘curse’ is plaguing the Sixers squad, causing so much trouble all at once. The announcement of the news not too long ago has left the fan base in shambles. Who will become the beacon of hope if not Tyrese Maxey?
Tyrese Maxey’s injury report is adding to the concerned fans’ disappointment.
A lackluster start for Philadelphia, to say the least. And now, their All-Star guard, Tyrese Maxey will miss weeks in recovery from the latest hamstring injury. Of course, the dedicated fans are worried and are openly expressing their concerns. “Cursed franchise,” they say in fear. Maxey’s outstanding average of 27.2 ppg was undoubtedly giving hope to the supporters. But now, the situation just turned around for the worse.
Meanwhile, a fan pointed out, “This is what happens when you play someone 41 minutes a game 🤦♂️.” Mad Maxey played for 41 minutes straight against the Phoenix Suns earlier this week. He scored 32 points in the game, but the results were the same- a disappointing defeat. Paul George took the final shot instead of passing it to the birthday boy Maxey and missed it. But, playing for so long must have strained the hooper as per the fans, hence, the hamstring injury.
“6ers are cooking❌ 6ers are cooked✅.” The situation was missing a hint of gen-z reactions and here we are! Fans have taken a playful and sarcastic stance on the Sixers’ struggling season. The ardent fans usually use the phrase “cooking” when a team is doing well. But here, they crossed it out to show the team isn’t performing. They use “cooked” to say the team is finished. First Joel Embiid and now Tyrese Maxey, and it’s not even just about the performance anymore. Fans are raising their concerns about the medical unit of the franchise too.

Meanwhile, supporters aren’t willing to place their faith in Joel Embiid as well. “Dawg wtf I’m tired of trusting the process,” they retorted. Fans have questioned the center’s credibility for the 76ers time and again. He’s been absent from the floor on several occasions and injuries have marred his recent career. Therefore, fans want a new face to rely on. Maxey was/is an option, but now he’s out.
Every time it looks like things might get better, something else goes wrong. With injuries, suspensions, and losses piling up, it feels like bad luck is following them. “Philly can’t catch a break,” wrote one fan. The team is struggling to find momentum, and fans are getting frustrated. It’s tough to watch when everything seems to be falling apart at once.

And a verdict, Philly didn’t need right now- “Sixers not making playoffs.” Well, if the current scenario continues, then playoffs might become a far-fetched dream for Joel Embiid & Co. The 76ers currently have a 1-6 record. One win and six losses. Yeah, let that sink in. As disheartening as it may sound, this is the team’s reality. They couldn’t even exceed the 100-point mark against the Clippers on Wednesday!
The 76ers are struggling with injuries, suspensions, and more. Tyrese Maxey’s injury adds to their woes, and Embiid’s absence hasn’t helped. With a rough start, the playoffs seem unlikely. If things don’t improve, another disappointing season looms.
