With another season of Cougar Madness kicking off, basketball lovers are excited to relive dreams (for some) and spin a new tale (for others). This is just a precursor to the men’s and women’s basketball preseason. And Ja Morant has extra reason to be excited this year.
Morant is still under suspension for the use of unlicensed arms and the Grizzlies seem to be taking the brunt of it. Even with Marcus Smart now on the team, they ended up losing their first four games. Ja still has 21 games to sit out before he can play again. Until then, it looks like he’s directing his efforts elsewhere.

Morant’s close friend and “brother”, Kameron Foster, is starting a new chapter in his life as a basketball coach. And his love and support are clearly shown in his story update on Instagram. He has reposted the Cougar Madness poster with a warm caption.
It reads, “Show love to my brother in his first year of coaching”. Foster will be coaching the Munford High School basketball team. For all the downsides that Morant shows, his love for his friends has always been a highlight of his life. So, it’s not surprising to see him taking to his social media to showcase his support.
The Cougar Madness is an updated version of the Midnight Madness. It started in the 1970s and over the years, the event has evolved into somewhat of a celebration. Now, it’s an adrenaline-filled night with the best of basketball talents getting together to mark the start of preseason.
This year’s event is happening at the MHS Gym on November 2nd, 2023, at 6:00. The main attractions include, 3-point shooting competition, a cheerleader show, and more. Well, we wish his friend all the best. He certainly seems to be doing better than Morant’s Grizzlies who are currently on rough ground.

Ja Morant’s absence seems to be affecting the bears more than everyone thought. With Smart still getting the hang of the Grizzlies, Morant’s lack of presence feels all too real. Monday saw them lose to the Mavericks on their home turf at a 110-125 loss. The only players who scored in doubles were Smart, Bane, and Jackson Jr.

Ja cannot play until Christmas time, and if Memphis does not pick up its pace, any of Morant’s efforts will go to waste. Of course, it will get him points, but the team is going to be way far down the rabbit hole by then. The Dallas Mavericks game did not have Kyrie Irving on the court due to a foot injury. That fact also makes the loss that much bittersweet.
