When Karl-Anthony Towns got traded to the Knicks, many believed it would take him some time to adjust to the new environment. But he has been on fire from Day 1 and led them to the third spot in the East standings. And he also hoped to carry that momentum to tonight’s Raptors clash. Sure enough, KAT did exactly that and reached a massive NBA career milestone by joining the 14,000-point club. However, the accomplishment came with a pinch of salt as concerning footage hinted at a potential injury.

Well, the incident occurred after KAT threw down a nasty dunk over Jakob Poeltl. While he was running back on defense following the flush, he was seen grimacing in pain. Of course, this is concerning because he missed Monday’s Magic game dealing with right knee tendinitis. He was also questionable heading into tonight’s matchup. And the look on his face could mean his knee is still bothering him.

Karl-Anthony Towns initially injured his knee during last weekend’s Bulls clash when Nikola Vucevic hit him hard during a drive to the basket. As a result, he was forced to leave the game early but finished with 44 points and 16 rebounds. However, the Knicks lost the game. Goes to show how crucial KAT’s availability is for the team to win.

Fortunately, he still played the entire game tonight, despite giving everyone a scare because of his painful look. He was dominant once again and went off for 27 points and 13 rebounds. As expected, the New York-based franchise blew the Raptors out by double digits!

Karl-Anthony Towns has “superstar” aspirations following praise from Tom Thibodeau

With KAT reaching the 14,000-point mark tonight, many would say that he is already a superstar. But the majority of those points came while he was playing for the Wolves. So, Towns humbly believes that he is yet to achieve respectable status for the Knicks. The hoopster had said last month, “I got more I could give and do and play better. I just want to be a superstar in my role, whatever that role may be for our team, and actually be the five here. And I just want to be the best I could.”

What’s your perspective on:

Can KAT's knee hold up, or are the Knicks risking their star's long-term health for short-term gains?

Have an interesting take?

Well, he is treading in the right direction with a dominant debut season in NYC, averaging 25.3 points and a league-high 14 rebounds. KAT has also impressed Tom Thibodeau with his effort, “My thing is being mentally tough when you’re facing adversity is probably the most important thing in life, regardless of what you’re doing. Get out there, get the job done. That’s the bottom line. I like that part of him.”

However, Coach Thibodeau is known for his strenuous methods with the team’s starters. Averaging 34 minutes every game is no joke. While he seems far from changing his approach, hopefully, the injury concerns will not bother the big man going forward, and KAT will continue to dominate like he did tonight and reach more career milestones in the Knicks uniform.
