“Come Home Trae (Young)”: Spurs Fans Sway Hawks All-Star Amid Worrying Season for Atlanta

The talented Ice Trae Young has had a quiet season so far amidst the heavily competitive Eastern Conference teams. The Atlanta Hawks only managed to win 11 games in their 26 outings and stand in the 10th seed of the Conference. Meanwhile, the 25-year-old star has put up great numbers against his name, averaging 28.4 points with 11 assists per game. On the other hand, after a hyped debut into the league, rookie Victor Wembanyama has had a similar run at the San Antonio Spurs team. However, the Spurs fans have come up with a special request to fix the issues for both stars.

It isn’t this particular season where Trae Young’s effort on the court have went in vain. The star has consistently produced a 25+ points average in the last few seasons. But, the team has managed to qualify for the playoffs only thrice in his career so far. And, with the current performance in the season, the Hawks are doubtful to make it to the postseason.

Spurs fans have a special request to Trae Young

The Spurs fans were in cloud nine ahead of the season, knowing that the 7 ‘4 Victor Wembanyama would don the black jersey. Eventually, the 19-year-old put on the Spurs jersey but the team continued to struggle on the court. Notably, the team recently ended their 19-game losing streak after beating the Los Angeles Lakers.

Amid this testing times, the Spurs fans have plotted a special plan to save the sinking Spurs ship by roping in Hawks star Trae Young into the side.

Following Trae Young’s recent post after winning the Monday night game against the Detroit Pistons, the Spurs fans barged into the comments section, inviting the star to partner up with Wembanyama.

One user wrote, “COME HOME TRAE.” The fan further stressed the similarities in the issues that Wemby and Ice Trae face. He added, “You are young, Wemby is young, you are both generational players. Wemby needs a PG and you need a Wemby.” Similarly, fans have swarmed the comments with requests. Here are some of the reactions.

Another fan had a different request where he fancied Young in the Lakers jersey.

While it is very less likely to make this trade come to life in the coming future, it is very much possible at the same time.

After spending 11 seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers, ring-less Damian Lillard finally chose to leave the franchise and forced a trade in the 2023 off-season. Just like the Hawks, the Blazers barely made it to the postseason in the last 10 years.

Lillard made it to the Milwaukee Bucks, and currently standing at one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference. At the same time, in the last 6 years since Young’s debut, the highest stage that the Hawks have reached is the Eastern Conference Finals in the 2020-21 season.

So given the struggle to find a ring, Young could fancy his chance to force a trade in the future.
