Draymond Green nearly put the Golden State Warriors in an extremely tough situation last night. The former DPOY got ejected less than 4 minutes into the game against the Orlando Magic after partaking in a verbal altercation with the officials. His teammate Stephen Curry was visibly upset after Draymond’s ejection as he tried to hold back his tears. Some even blamed Steph for letting things get out of hand. Amid the criticism, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr came to Steph’s rescue.

During his appearance on the ‘95.7 The Game’ radio show, Kerr asserted that Steph should not be held accountable for Draymond’s on-court antics considering he is mature enough to stand aware of the consequences. “Draymond knows he’s a grown man. He’s got to handle his own business. Any mention of Steph being culpable is just ridiculous. The way Steph has carried our franchise represented our franchise for 15 years. It’s absolutely ridiculous.”

Steve Kerr also reminded everyone that Steph was the first person who tried to stop Draymond from escalating the situation last night. However, Draymond uttered an expletive while heading to the bench that caught the referee’s attention, leading to his ejection. “He deserved it. You can’t do that. But that’s not Steph’s fault.” Kerr added.

Steph said he got frustrated after Draymond’s ejection because he knows how important this part of the season is, and they cannot afford to have self-inflicted wounds. “All I’ll say is we need him. He knows that. We all know that.” Steph said about Draymond.

Stephen Curry and Co. fought through adversity last night

Many believed the Warriors would implode after Draymond got ejected from the game last night. However, Stephen Curry and Co. had different plans. They responded brilliantly amid adversity to put up a great team performance to beat the Orlando Magic 101-93. Steph played much like a reliable leader, scoring 17 points and dishing out 10 assists. His Splash Brother Klay Thompson also had a decent game, finishing with 15 points on 3 of 8 shooting from beyond the arc.

Andrew Wiggins proved to be the star of the show as he dominated in Draymond’s absence. He scored a team-high 23 points and led the Warriors to victory. The Warriors were also impressive on defense, limiting the Magic to only 93 points despite missing their defensive stopper, Draymond. The team is currently trying to hold on to their play-in spot and get into the playoffs; meaning there’s little room for error on the path ahead.
