The Los Angeles Clippers had a mixed start to the NBA regular season. They beat the Blazers 123-111 in their season opener but lost to the Utah Jazz in a close match. With their star duo, Kawhi-George playing big minutes, there were concerns about their health. But so far, they seem to be in good shape. Both of them were present in the game against the Jazz. Though they didn’t have a productive outing, it was a sight for the sore eyes to watch Kawhi Leonard and Paul George taking the lead.

Unfortunately, they are the only ones who took the lead. With the exception of veteran guard Powell, there wasn’t much the Clippers had to say for themselves. LA is going to face Popovich’s Spurs tonight. And if all things go well, this will be a match to watch.

Kawhi Leonard and Paul George have been great friends since they joined the Clippers. That was also what the team hoped for when they signed the veterans. Well, their wishes came true. Since then, whenever the star duo has been on the court, it has been a blockbuster match. But we all know both these players’ affinity for injuries.

Since the NBA regular season started, the Clippers haven’t had much to worry though. Both of them were present in the two games played and didn’t look any worse for the wear. According to Fox Sports, Paul George is looking “healthy and locked in”. The same with Kawhi – “appears to be healthy to begin the campaign”. They wouldn’t be wrong.

Their scores in the first two games of the regular season are proof enough. Though the Jazz match was a loss for the team, Kawhi and Paul put forward some stunning points. Playing 37 minutes, Kawhi scored 25 points, five assists and nine rebounds. Paul totaled a score of 36 points, one assist, and four rebounds during 38 minutes of the game. For two guys out of injuries, these are decent scores.

The Clippers’ win over Portland was a team effort. And if they want to continue that steady ascent into a scorching streak of wins, the team needs to put in more effort. In Friday’s game, no other starter scored more than six points. They cannot afford such low points going forward. So summing up, we can see Kawhi Leonard and Paul George tonight in the Spurs vs Clippers game.

On a lighter note, why don’t we look at how the two reclusive Leonard and George became fast friends?

The relationship dynamics between the Clippers’ veterans

Kawhi is the most misunderstood person in the NBA league. He rarely reacts, doesn’t speak a word to the media and when he does talk, it leaves everyone slack-jawed. But he’s always been like that. Apparently, the only other person who understands Leonard is the other reserved player, Paul George.

Talking to the Ringer, Eric Fredieu, the kids’ rec league coach in Kawhi’s hometown said, “He played basketball and video games and didn’t say much.” Clearly, this personality of Leonard’s has followed him through to adulthood. Paul George is also a reserved person. Though not as much as Kawhi, the two do share a lot of common interests and hobbies. Primarily, both of them have kids of similar ages, and getting together seems like a natural thing. It also gives them quality “dude time”. Hopefully.

Anyway, the two have a solid friendship and the Clippers are counting on this off-court chemistry to work wonders on the court as well.
