Kawhi Leonard is injured. The LA Clippers‘ dream run in this season may come to an end with this injury update. The 2x NBA Champion has undergone a series of grave injuries ever since he got traded to the LA side. And it had impacted the team’s chance at a ring. Similarly, this season could also take a hit.

Shams Charanaia took to his X handle and posted, “Clippers say Kawhi Leonard has a left adductor strain and is out vs. Warriors on Wednesday.” While the severity of the injury isn’t clear yet, The Klaw could miss more than one game given the track record of his injuries.

The Clippers have had a fantastic comeback story in this season. The team started off fumbling with 5 straight losses since the James Harden trade. When the team looked like it could no longer compete for the championship, it turned up the heat and became almost unbeatable.

While it may seem like James Harden had brought in all the change in the team, it wasn’t entirely that. The 10x All-Star sure did the orchestrating job, but it was Kawhi Leonard, who was consistent with the buckets. He has averaged around 24.1 points with 6 rebounds per game. He almost recorded a 50-40-90, only falling short with the free throw percentage, registering 89.1% from the FT line.

Compared to his earlier seasons, Leonard has slowed down due to his age and injuries. However, he has been a machine when it comes to churning out points near the paint. Undeniably, the best player for the Clippers.

Adductor strain – When will Kawhi Leonard return?

An adductor strain or groin strain is one of the common injuries that every NBA player faces. Even Stephen Curry faced it during the 2018-19 season. The severity of the injury depends on the damage to the tendon. In Kawhi Leonard’s case, it’s at the basic strain level, so he could return to the Clippers in no time.

However, given the past track record, the Clippers fans need to worry a little. In his entire career, Leonard missed three playoffs just because of his injury. In the previous season, he returned to the court after a 16-month recovery from a partially torn ACL. While he put up a decent show in the regular season, the workload pushed him into another injury break, in the first game of the 2023 playoffs.
