In just a few days the whole season outlook of the Brooklyn Nets saw a seismic shift. They just lost their best player, Dennis Schroder. After a brief stint with the German veteran, Brooklyn traded him to the West Coast, along with a 2025 second-round pick, in exchange for a lucrative deal with the Warriors. The Nets not only secured De’Anthony Melton in return but also Reece Beekman and three unprotected second-round draft picks from the Warriors.
The impact of this trade on the team will become clearer in their next game when the Nets face Eastern rivals, the Cleveland Cavaliers, without Dennis Schroder. But first, let’s take a look at which players won’t be on the court for this thrilling matchup.

Cavaliers injury report
The name at the top of the Cavs’ list is Evan Mobley. The 23-year-old has received the green signal from the medical team regarding his ankle injury, as it was reportedly determined to be less serious. However, the Cleveland Cavaliers are not looking to take any risks with their offensive center. The franchise will monitor Mobley’s condition before making a final decision on his status for Monday night’s game. He was absent from Friday’s game against the Wizards, which gave him ample time to rest. For now, Mobley is listed as probable. In addition to Mobley, G League star Craig Porter Jr.‘s status has also not been confirmed. The young guard is currently dealing with a left ankle sprain and has been listed as questionable for the matchup.
The Cavaliers have confirmed which players will not be available for the game. The first one on the list is Max Strus, who was expected to make a comeback on Friday after suffering an ankle injury during the preseason. He will remain out as he has not yet shown the necessary signs of fitness to rejoin the team. Next in line is Jaylon Tyson, who is sidelined because of an illness. The 22-year-old will have to wait for another opportunity to perform.
Meanwhile, Emoni Bates is still recovering from the knee surgery he underwent two months ago and will require more time to heal. Luke Travers will also be unavailable for the game against the Nets. The Australian swingman recently suffered an ankle injury, which caused him to miss Saturday’s G League game too.
Nets injury report
On the flip side, the Nets are facing a slight advantage with their injury report as they do not have too many players listed as per ESPN. Cam Thomas, who is dealing with a hamstring injury, will remain out. Joining him on the list is Bojan Bogdanovic, who has yet to suit up for the team this season due to his foot injury. Another face that will be missed tonight is Ziaire Williams. This will be the fifth consecutive game that he will miss as he continues to recover from a sprained left knee. Whereas, Dennis Schroder will obviously not appear because of the recent trade nor will De’Anthony Melton and Reece Beekman.
The only player with a slim chance of suiting up is two-way swingman Tyrese Martin. The 25-year-old has been out since late November with a right knee bone contusion but he appears to be in better shape now. So, the franchise has listed him as questionable for tonight’s game.
With the injury reports discussed, we can now shift our attention to the depth charts of both sides to get a clearer picture of who can be expected on the roster tonight.

The Cavs bounced back strong on Friday after their loss to the Heat, while the Nets have suffered back-to-back losses in their last two games. Whenever these two sides have met, they’ve delivered action-packed matchups, and tonight will certainly be no different. Dennis Schroder’s absence will be a challenge for Jordi Fernandez and his team, but facing Cleveland is never an easy task.
The Nets have already been badly defeated once this season by the Eastern toppers. If they don’t come up with a strong game plan then the Cavaliers could easily destroy their defense once again. However, they’ll have the support of the Barclays Center crowd this time. But will that be enough to boost the Nets to go all out against the mighty Cavs? We’ll find out at 8 PM tonight.
