Stopping the Cleveland Cavaliers seems impossible this season. They’ve gone on two separate 14-game winning streaks in the regular season. And they’re the team with the fewest losses in the league! But there’s still something that can halt Donovan Mitchell and co’s momentum as they look to enter the postseason on a high.
What’s that, you ask? Well, it’s injuries to their star players. Injuries are a sad reality of any contact sport. But losing key players at this juncture could spell disaster for the Cavs. So let’s see what their injury report looks like ahead of the San Antonio Spurs game.

Injury Report – Is Donovan Mitchell playing tonight?
Donovan Mitchell missed the Cavs’ last game while recovering from a groin injury. While it wasn’t a blowout for the Cavs like the game before, they still beat the Portland Trail Blazers quite handily. But they don’t need to worry about doing that against the Spurs.
That’s because the Cavs talisman Donovan Mitchell is off the injury report for the Spurs game. Yes, that’s right, Mitchell is available to play in the Cavs’ upcoming game per the injury report. However, there are other players whose presence on the IR will concern the Cavs.
Most pressing among them is Evan Mobley, who’s OUT of the Spurs game as Kenny Atkinson has chosen to give him some rest. Unlike him, Jaylon Tyson is OUT after suffering a bone bruise in his left knee. Tyson has missed the last 4 games for the Cavs. He may also miss the next game against the Pistons on Friday because of this injury.
On the other hand, Ty Jerome is QUESTIONABLE to appear in the Spurs game. He has a sore left knee, and his appearance will be a game-time decision for Coach Atkinson.
What’s your perspective on:
Can the Cavs maintain their dominance, or will injuries derail their championship dreams this season?
Have an interesting take?
However, G-League players Bates Emoni, Nae’Qwan Tomlin, and Luke Travers are decidedly OUT for the Spurs game. Since they’re on two-way contracts, they have G-League duties to fulfill.

All in all, Kenny Atkinson isn’t in a bad spot when it comes to the pool of players he can select his starting lineup from. So let’s see who he may play in the Spurs game.
Cleveland Cavaliers vs San Antonio Spurs – predicted starting lineup and depth chart
With a firm grasp on the top seed in the East, the Cavs are in a very comfortable position. That may be why Atkinson has chosen to rest Mobley tonight. But we don’t see him resting too many big names for this game. After all, the Spurs are still heavy hitters even if De’Aaron Fox and Victor Wembanyama cannot feature against the Cavs. So here’s who we think will play for Cleveland tonight:

POSITION | STARTER | 2nd UNIT | 3rd UNIT |
PG | Darius Garland | Donovan Mitchell | Craig Porter Jr. |
SG | Donovan Mitchell | Sam Merrill | Max Strus |
SF | Max Strus | De’Andre Hunter | Issac Okoro |
PF | Dean Wade | De’Andre Hunter | Javonte Green |
C | Jarrett Allen | Tristan Thompson | Dean Wade |
On paper, the Cavs seem to have it in the bag. They’re back to their winning ways after stumbling a little this month and dropping four straight losses. But that only seems to have spurred them on, and they looked incredible in their games against the Utah Jazz and Portland Trail Blazers. Moreover, missing Wemby and Fox significantly hurts the Spurs’ chances of winning this game. So, we think the Cavs have this one in the bag, barring an upset that no one sees coming!
