For the second time in three years, the Boston Celtics have advanced to the NBA Finals. The 17-time champions swept the young Indiana Pacers, who lacked Tyrese Haliburton. However, short-manned or not, nothing can dispute the magnificent series Celtics guard Jaylen Brown produced. For the first time in his career, he was awarded the Eastern Conference Finals MVP award and there was a lot of public chatter about it.

Even tonight, Brown managed to recover from a difficult shooting start. He had only accumulated 10 points at the half shooting a measly 36%. As soon as the turnaround came, Brown became the anchor of the Celtics once again. The 27-year-old added 19 second-half points on 7-11 shooting. Brown would also be the guy who assisted Derrick White’s game-winning three with 45 seconds left to secure the sweep against Indiana.

His contributions were indispensable in the Celtics’ rattling of the Pacers. His best performance by far came during Game 2, when Brown ran off for 40 points, completely demolishing the Pacer defense. It forced an argument from the fans of the Shamrock after one of them wrote, “Best player on the Celtics”.

Without Brown’s bravery, there was no sweep for Boston. He was their go-to shotmaker in the most challenging situations. Even through a sweep, the Pacers pushed Boston to its limits. However, the presence of Jaylen Brown never let Indiana ever utilize their short window of opportunity in those games.

Fans boil Jayson Tatum for losing out to Jaylen Brown

From the time Brown lifted the ECF MVP award, there were two celebrations. One was the obvious Boston fans who experienced ecstasy and joy on making it to their second NBA Finals in three seasons. Others were laughing at Jayson Tatum, the widely accepted cornerstone of the Celtics.

After watching Brown’s incredible display and consistency throughout the series, some fans even claimed he deserves the mantle of being the best player. “Clears Tatum ngl” a fan wrote on X. There wasn’t much disparity between the two long-time teammates in terms of their output. Tatum averaged 30.3 points and Brown collected 29.8 points during the four-game clash against Indiana.

Since ascending into the realm of stars, Tatum has been regarded as one of the best young stars in the NBA. He is often placed well over the likes of Devin Booker and Trae Young alluding to his colorful history in the postseason at just 26. Yet, his losing MVP honors to Brown had fans revising the conversation. One fan even said, “LMAOOOO JAYSON TATUM LOST ECF MVP TO “Jaylen Brown” DONT EVER COMPARE HIM TO BOOKER AGAIN”.

Another fan felt it was because of Jaylen Brown’s fresh feud with Stephen A. Smith that the 27-year-old went berserk tonight. “Jaylen Brown should go up there and thank Stephen A Smith to be petty”, said a fan while laughing. After a valiant series as such, maybe JB will receive superior positioning for NBA honors as well.

A netizen took the liberty to call him the “Most Valuable Punisher”, and rightfully so! Brown grabbed every opportunity he got to clinch a point. His 40-point haul in Game 2 was crucial to pull the series away from the Pacers in what turned out to eventually be a complete blowout!

Fans might not stop pinning Tatum and Brown against each other. But as teammates for over five years, all they desire is to win a Championship together. The star tandem was two games away when the Golden State Warriors defeated them two seasons ago.
