The Golden State Warriors have swiftly returned to their winning ways after the All-Star break. They boast a 5-1 record since the weekend, including the recent victory against the Toronto Raptors in Canada. The Warriors have been navigating through a season-long set of struggles and injuries. However, before the recent game, an unexpected speed bump presented itself. Despite this, Warriors star Chris Paul said Golden State has nothing to worry about.

Amid logistic issues following the first leg of the back-to-back in New York, the team faced shortened preparations due to mechanical issues in their team plane. With that in mind, Chris Paul commended the squad’s resilience and determination in the post-game interview. Citing that the players had every reason to take things easy, he said, “We could have found every excuse in the book to come out and lay down tonight, but we got a lot of guys that’s not built like that.”

Chris Paul’s future with the Warriors can soon be in question

Chris Paul is the pure definition of a point guard. His ball-handling, in-game intelligence, ability to score, create opportunities for teammates, and wealth of veteran experience truly make him the ‘point-god’.

However, Paul lacks a championship, preventing him from greatness. Now, as the Warriors intensify their push for a playoff spot, his future with the team can soon be in question.

Paul is currently committed to the Warriors until the 2024-25 season. However, on paper, his $30 million salary for the season is non-guaranteed. This means that Golden State retains the option to forego the seasoned guard before the next season.

Paul came to the Warriors after the squad’s need for a veteran mind. Moreover, the Warriors hoped to cruise through the playoff, in light of the closing championship window for Steph, Klay, and Draymond Green. However, if the Warriors fail to embark on a better season than last year’s playoff exit, Paul might have to reevaluate his championship dream.
