Chris Paul fractured his left hand during a game against the Detroit Pistons last week. The Golden State Warriors guard went for a rebound in the third quarter and bumped into a Pistons player. He immediately left the game and headed to the locker room, holding his hand in pain. It was later reported that CP3 would undergo surgery on his fractured hand.
Five days after the heartbreaking injury, Chris Paul shared a concerning update about his hand on social media. He shared a picture of his hand post-surgery on his Instagram story. His hand was covered in a bandage on the surgically repaired part, and the caption read, “Day 1”. The point guard is expected to be out for at least 4 to 6 weeks.
That means he might not suit up for the Warriors until the All-Star break in February. That is a massive blow for the Warriors, who are struggling to stay afloat in the Western Conference. Paul was averaging 8.9 points, 7.2 assists, and 1.1 steals before he got injured. He had taken up the role of leading the Warriors’ second unit.

With Chris Paul out for more than a month, rookie Brandin Podziemski is expected to get more playing time. The 20-year-old guard is having a great rookie season and has been one of the highlights of the Warriors’ abysmal season. Podziemski is averaging 9.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 3.3 assists.
Luck has never been on Chris Paul’s side
When Chris Paul joined forces with Stephen Curry and Co. during the off-season, many thought this was the year he would finally win his first championship. But CP3’s debut season with the Warriors has been nothing like the fans expected. The Warriors are currently 12th in the Western Conference with a 17-19 record. And Paul fracturing his hand might cost them even more games in the coming days. But this is not the first time the veteran point guard’s body has failed him.
