Did Chet Holmgren just silence Jaylen Brown with his stellar Summer League performance?

Bronny James rises again after the Jaylen Brown insult. The eldest son of LeBron James seemed to have found his rhythm amid his “slump” in the last two games. The 19-year-old faced all sorts of criticisms following his underwhelming Summer League debut for the LA Lakers, averaging 4.3 ppg in the first four games with a poor shooting showcase. Moreover, it blew out of proportion when the reigning Finals MVP allegedly threw a spade at him. However, OKC Thunder star, Chet Holmgren evened it out.

The Boston Celtics star Brown, seated at the courtside for the Summer League clash between the Celtics and Lakers, allegedly passed a comment, that went viral. The lip-reading experts of the NBA world translated his comment as “I don’t think Bronny is a pro.” Even though Brown clarified it with a tweet, the video clip stayed on the internet. Notably, in that game, Bronny scored 2 points with 1-5 FG and 0-3 from the 3-point line.

Nevertheless, following the controversy, the rising star dropped back-to-back double-digit scores (12, 13). Tonight, he dropped 13 points, a career-high against the Cleveland Cavaliers with an impressive 50% FG. Following the game, Chet Holmgren commented on an X post that carried Bronny’s stat line, stating, “Looked like a pro.” While we don’t have evidence to prove that it was Holmgren’s response to Brown’s comments, the fans in the comments indeed have picked it up as a direct response.

When Jaylen Brown‘s alleged insult went around the internet, the Celtics star intervened and offered a clarification. He reposted an X post that shared the insult and wrote, “It’s a flex to have your son alongside you in the NBA it reflects greatness and longevity! Bronny has all the tools around him to be successful I look forward to watching his growth.”

Nevertheless, it tapped a switch inside Bronny and he has come out promising.

Have an interesting take?

The game against the Cavs was nothing short of a thriller. The game went down the wire, as the Lakers survived a close 93-89 game. Bronny picked up from where he left off from the last game. In the first four games, the rising star looked all over the place, missing buckets. Especially from downtown, he missed all 14 attempts to splash a three-pointer, including a set of air balls.

The fans were already giving up on the prodigy!

Speaking of his game, Bronny said, “I feel like I’m in a little bit of a slump right now.” And the trollers didn’t hesitate to attack him for that as well. Nevertheless, he cracked open after he scored his first three-pointer in the previous game against the Atlanta Hawks and backed it up with two more, later in the game.

And James Jr. continued it in tonight’s game as well. He opened his account with a fake pass jumper in the first quarter and followed it with a series of tough layups. But, one bucket which kept the crowd buzzing, was the clutch three-pointer. With only three minutes left, the Lakers trailed by 5 points. At that time, Bronny dropped a step-back three-pointer to bring down the deficit to two points, leaving the crowd to erupt.

The Lakers have one more game left in the Summer League against the Chicago Bulls. Will Bronny James break his high score? Let us know in the comments below.
