Heading into the In-Season Tournament semifinal between the New Orleans Pelicans and the Los Angeles Lakers, everyone’s eyes were on the likes of Zion Williamson, Anthony Davis, and LeBron James. However, it was Charles Barkley who stole the headlines prior to tipoff, by issuing a rather strange challenge.

NBA players are some of the most athletically gifted people on earth, and this translates to all sports. Golf in particular is a well enjoyed pass-time for them. With the likes of Steph Curry and Michael Jordan very proficient on the links, it’s no surprise that golf is a popular activity among players.

Self proclaimed “best NBA golfer” Austin Reaves just received a call out from Charles Barkley to a round of golf in his home city of Oklahoma.

With numerous NBA players using the links as a way to relax and unwind, there have been rumors of an NBA golf tournament with both current and ex NBA players touted to participate.

Austin Reaves, who has a TikTok account of his own dedicated to golfing videos, would surely love to accept Barkley’s challenge, but for now, he has other things to concentrate on.

When Austin Reaves hit the game-winning three on the Phoenix Suns, he and the Lakers issued a warning statement to the remaining teams in the In-Season Tournament. With a 5-0 record, the Purple and Gold came into the semi-finals with only one mission: win the cup.

Their record in the In-Season Tournament has been flawless, and their overall game has been leaps and bounds over their regular season. With LeBron James 2nd in the Tournament’s MVP voting, and Anthony Davis back to his scintillating best, the Lakers will not accept anything less than the trophy.

Reaves, who had a breakout season last year, has been in charge of the Lakers’ second unit this season, coming off the bench to devastating effect. While he doesn’t look like much at first glance, he’s a lethal shooter, with the ability to close out games on his own. The trust that LeBron James has placed in him has massively helped his confidence, and Reaves has credited James for a lot of improvement in his game.
