Caitlin Clark is slowly shaping into one of the most renowned figures of modern women’s basketball. After a more than successful 4-year stint in Iowa, the 22-year-old began her tenure with the Indiana Fever barely 10 days ago. As her rookie debut is being watched with anticipation, Clark has also been subject to some unwanted hate. From being called “overhyped” to stating that the constant media attention on her is because of her “white” skin, many critics have taken a negative stance toward WNBA’s star. LeBron James and Charles Barkley also spoke out on this issue. However, Chuck’s viewpoint made a few people question whether he had just copied what others had said.

A few hours ago, the trio of American rappers Mase and Cam’Ron, alongside television host Treasure Wilson, released another episode of their ‘It Is What It Is’ podcast. During their chat, Wilson highlighted how the All-Time top NBA scorer went out of his way to state that Clark is “the reason why a lot of great things are gonna happen for the WNBA” and that he is rooting for the young player because he himself was once in a similar situation.

Barkley was a bit more extreme than the Laker, stating that all the “petty” women in the WNBA should be thankful that Clark is “getting your as**s private Charters and all the money and visibility she’s bringing into the WNBA”. Rather than appreciating Barkley’s statement, the hosts reportedly claimed that Chuckster’s viewpoint sounds similar to the one presented by Mase and a few others. “Charles, you’re taking my takes now. What’s going on?” said Mase. “That’s what Plagiarism is all about, right? Take your essay and then change a few words”.

Cam’ron declared while “it ain’t verbatim”, it is still quite close. Mase’s complaint was about a statement he made after finding out that the Indiana Fever was having their players fly in private planes. This was a privilege that not even Angel Resse and the rest of the Chicago Sky players were receiving.

The rapper called the same out to be “A changing of the Gods …….. because what she’s bringing to the table, they have to make her a success”. Charles Barkley may not have copied Mase’s viewpoint word-to-word. However, they too made use of the ‘Private Planes’ topic as a way to defend the 22-year-old player. This may be why the rapper felt that the ‘Inside the NBA’ host was echoing his stance.

WNBA Players speak out after Charles Barkley made “Petty” remark to defend Caitlin Clark

Once Charles Barkley presented his stance to the rest of the world, it didn’t take long for a reaction from several people, including those associated with the WNBA. One of the first individuals to speak out was Los Angeles Sparks forward Dearica Hamby. She took to her official X account, highlighted a video of Barkley putting out his statement, and wrote, “Seriously…. wtf are you talking about….”.

Jonquel Jones, the power forward for the New York Liberty, stated that she would like to know all the women who are “hating on CC” because she herself has not seen this phenomenon taking place amongst the players. In her defense, however, she highlighted that she is not a “big comment reader” and might have just missed out on the relevant stuff.

Another Sparks player, Chiney Ogwumike, called out Barkley and the rest of the ‘Inside the NBA’ team for being the “GOATs of the industry”. At the same time, however, she does not side with the 76ers legend, believing that “Every WNBA player I know supports this rookie class and are grateful for the spotlight & money that Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, and Co. are bringing to the W!”
